About Me

Hi, I'm Jim Keeler,

I started building car models when I was about six years old. Went on to start model building for contests in the fifties and then got into model car show promotion. I was invited to be a columnist for Rod and Custom magazine then went on to Car Life,Car Craft, Popular Hot Rodding, Car Model, Rod and Custom models, Model Car Science and Model Cars. Started working at Revell in the early sixties until 1965. Went to Utah State University and graduated in 1970. Built Dodge Fever and won a trip to Detroit from Car Model Magazine, Chrysler Corporation and MPC models.Started working for Aurora in late 1969 and stayed until 1975. I was the Product Manager of Hobby Kits and Product Manager of the AFX line of ho slot racers.
Came back to Utah in 1975 and went into a retail toy and hobby store, then into wholesale sales of toys and hobbies. Started my own company - Utah Models Inc. until 1986. Got real sick and retired until 1993 when I restored a full size 1903 Pullman Car that is on display in West Yellowstone Montana. Been building models and writing about them and real cars for most of my life. Own a 1962 Chevy Nova Convertible and a 1965 Pontiac Bonneville four door hardtop. I spend a lot of time on the Bonneville Salt Flats, just 122.5 miles from my driveway. LOve all kinds of cars, but my all time favorite is the 1932 Bugatti type 50T. Got to ride in the 1907 Thomas Flyer that drove around the world in 1907, and got to ride in the Corvette Mako Shark at the GM proving grounds in 1962 or 3.
I now am starting a new business manufacturing and selling Americana Quilt Frames.
