Making a shortbed version of the Model King Ford 4x4 kit

10 February 2013 - 10:13 AM

Has anyone created a shortbed version of the Model King 4x4? I have one of these kits to build and I really want to make it a shortbed but was hoping someone has pictures of doing one already. I know the frame and bed will need to chopped down, is it possible to use the kit bed? I thought I had seen a resin bed on eBay at one time but IIRC it was a rough casting with much work to be done to make it presentable.

Any and all help is appreciated!

Foothills NC Show/Swap Meet

03 September 2012 - 03:51 PM

I can't remember when this show typically is but I thought I saw somewhere it was in Conover or Morganton NC in September.

If someone knows, could you please post some information on the show?

Thanks!

Hobby Lobby

30 August 2012 - 12:05 PM

So I went into a Hobby Lobby today and discovered a couple of interesting things.

1. Some of the Testors spray paint has been marked down. Picked up a couple of cans for $3.21, almost half off.

2. They have made room for the upcoming Revell 50 Olds and 57 Ford.

3. If you have a smartphone, no need to print a coupon. I walked up to the register with the Phantom Van and found the HL website and they were able to use the code from the online coupon, saving me $10 on the cost of the kit!

Now that I know I can use my phone to get 40% off, I might be spending more time and money at Hobby Lobby.

Revell's Make-nTake

15 July 2012 - 09:38 AM

All,

I have a question for the forum brain trust- What do you know about the Revell Make-n-Take program?

I need real life experiences and not " A buddy told me......" as my wife is a school teacher and she is looking at doing some afterschool programs and this was HER idea!

She is looking at creating an afterschool program where the kids (Grades 3-5) would get together once a week and assemble various projects. We talked about different projects she could do and after looking at the Revell website, she said we should go to Hobby Lobby to get some ideas of what is out there for here to build her program with.

I told her that she would have to demonstrate to me that she could assemble a snap tite model so she used her 40% off coupon on a space shuttle kit as I already have a couple of the '69 Camaros and '34 Fords.

She will be calling Revell on Monday to see what the Make-n-Take kits cost and what is available. There is a good chance that she will have the kids put together several kits at different times so I might be the beneficiary of some left overs ! :D

Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

July Issue

03 July 2012 - 11:17 AM

Just came in from the mailbox and found the July issue among the pile. A quick thumb through and it looks like another good read.

Glad to see Gregg's note about it being available at the bookstore, I won't be able to renew my subscription and will have to look for it when I can afford to buy it.
