Think I'll quit for a while

08 June 2013 - 02:17 PM

I've buggered up almost everything I'v painted in the last year, having to repaint them 3 or more times. I've only had one paintjob turn out well and it was white.

Just not feeling up to doing it any more right now.

maybe taking a break for a while will help get my "mojo" back.

Not quitting forever, just gonna take a little break for a while.

My Fotki pics are back !

05 June 2013 - 10:28 AM

Looks like all my pics are back in Fotki now.

As some may remember they had a {some??] servers go down after hurricane Sandy last year and a load of everyones pics went missing from thier albums.

I'm not sure everyone is back but it looks like it. :D

MPC '68 Impala SS427 resto,

02 June 2013 - 04:22 PM

I picked up this  '68 Impala SS427 a couple years ago. It had a busted up bubble top on it. Picked up a new tool '67 body at our local show last weekend and grafted it on.

I may not do any more work on it for a while as it was just something to do on a rainy afternoon but I do plan to work on it after I get a couple other '68 GM projects off my table. ;)

Clear resin headlights?

01 December 2012 - 11:56 AM

Humm , , Anyone know of any company selling clear resin headlight lenses?

Seems to me it'd be a good seller for replacing missing lenses and for people like me who sometimes like to replace molded in chrome lenses with clear ones.

'68 Chevy Shortbed. [April 21 , , repainted and underhood mockup]]

21 October 2012 - 10:02 AM

Started tinkering around with last week after finishing the Rabbit.

I had a '68 cab assembly from a box of stuff I got years ago and I'm gonna bash it with the current '72 longbed. The hood is from the '72. I was pleased to find it's thick enough at the front that you could easily file the front of it away to look like a '67/'68 hood.

Plans are for candy aqua paint with white roof and lower body. I'll be using the 19" Cragars in the pictures on it. I made them 6 or 7 years ago and only used them on one build so far so I think this will be a good one to use them on.

The engine will be the 350 small block from the '72 kit dressed up with the 327 valve covers from the '68 and detailed out a bit.

Started by shortening the rear fenders. took 12mm out in front of the wheel and 6 from behind. Also took the same from the bed floor. I'm moving the wheel wells in about 3 scale inches on each side. Need the extra room for the big Pegasus Michline Pilot tires I'll be using.

Here's the shortened chassis plate. Again, 12mm out of the wheelbase. I think I found a sneaky way to shorten it too. LOL

The only peices I actually removed is the little peice shown in the first pic which came out of the exhaust/drive shaft area between the suspension arms and a bit in front of the tires for clearence.

Here's the rear fenders before I attempt to add the trim and new side marker lights.
