Couple of AMR 1/43 Ferrari 250 GT PF Cabrios

I'm slowly chipping away at a pile of old AMRs that one gentleman sent to me for restoration. These are the last two I had. Red one was painted horrible bronze color, and black one was white (go figure), with blue interior. Yuck. Re-did these puppies in more appropriate color combos.

The design concept was certainly simple. Take a jet engine - run drive shafts out of each end to the front and rear axles and build a steel frame to house the engine driver and wheels. Well, that's how it started. But hundreds of drawings later and £1,000,000 spent, the vehicle sported an aluminum honeycomb chassis, with huge wheels all covered in a voluptuous ally body.
Powered by a Bristol Siddeley Proteus free turbine engine developing in excess of 5,000-hp, this revolutionary car was designed by the Norris Brothers and built by Motor Panels, Ltd, of Coventry. Driven by Donald Campbell, Bluebird CN7 set world land speed record at 403.10 mph at Lake Eyre on 17th July, 1964.
This is a rather simple, but very big model. Very heavy too. I had to make a special stand to paint this bad boy!

Yet another small scale AMR build. This time just a few minor additions to an excellent kit:
Corrected/lowered stance
Slimmed down the window frames
BMF for window trim
Working shifter w/real leather boot
Real leather upholstery on rear package shelf

I just love these 43rd scale AMRs! Another restoration of the old kit built in early 80's (was painted baby blue - yuck!), with some "modern day" additions - Crazy Modeler scripts, MFH badges, complete repaint and few enhancements along the way (interior detail, gauges, real leather hood straps, BMW etc).

Yet another small scale (1/43) build from another excellent AMR kit - Ferrari 250MM. Great little kit, enjoyed building it.
