Topics I've Started

2008 Kvapil #28 Lafayette Ford Fusion

08 April 2013 - 01:33 PM

I love the retro graphics on this car so had to at least start to build it...I love the 60s era of NASCAR and this one also takes care of my desire to build a Ford COT.

So, here's what I got...Power Slide decals, Mike's Fusion resin body and the AMT 2010 Chevy COT snapper.

The resin parts have had a Wesley's bath and a soap and water soaking. Once dry I'll shoot some primer.

I'll need to adjust the wheelbase on the chassis, but I'm only planning on a shelf model, so the snapper chassis fits the bill and looks like it should fit the body. Comments and suggestions, fire away. This is my first resin  conversion, with a could more in the line-up!

USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D Completed 2013-04-05

06 April 2013 - 06:57 AM

I bought this kit in 1992 and finished it last night, apparently as luck would have it on "First Contact Day"! (Actually, 50 years before...April 5, 2063, from the movie "First Contact"). I built it for my son, who is the biggest Star Trek fan in our family (We are all fans). Gave it to him today after taking pictures.

All paint work was done by brush, except for the stand which I spray painted. I'm happy that it turned out all and that I finally got it done! My son is happy with it, which is what counted for this build. The full PB album is here. Enjoy and please offer any comments or critiques. Thanks!

1941 Ford TZH Squad Water Truck "Nemo"

10 March 2013 - 03:03 PM

Here's the album for this build.

This based on the AMT 1941 Ford Woody with a few modifications  . This is my second build for the TZH Post Apocaliptic CBP. I imagined this to be a vehicle used to retrieve water from various rivers and lakes and transport it to small pockets of humans. Onboard water treatment and minimal armour plus a couple of sensor operatoed guns to support the small arms used by the support staff. "Galaxium" (my first TZH buold) would provide the heavier artillery, clearing the way if needed and remote protection when collecting or delivering water.

The water tank was made from the packaging for an Xbox controller, the inset for the handles making the two halves. It is mounted in a Silverado pick up box. The wheels are aftermarket. The rest is parts box bits, pop can, sprue, shoe laces, rust and parts from a dead DVD player. A little imagination and weathering was added after that. Enjoy!

Dual Batmobile Build - Dynamic Duo Duo (The Batcave CBP)

02 February 2013 - 08:54 AM

These are my first completions of 2013! Thanks to Futurabat for the tutorial and tips on building this kit. These are built from the Polar Lights 1/32 scale reissue of the 60s Aurora kit. I built two as a friend in Florida asked if I'd build his when I built mine. It is the first time that I've ever built two of the same kit at the same time and to try to build them both the same! Fun and challenging, especially when it came to painting the striping...twice on each body (first in white then in red).

Here is the Photobucket album with the whole build. Enjoy!

Anyone else here going to grow a mustache for Movember to raise awareness and funding for men's health?
I've signed up and have joined a team of co-workers.
