Revell 4th Quarter new kit announcements

Yet again, Tower Hobbies has posted information on upcoming new Revell kits before any official announcement from Revell.  Great internal communication inside the Hobbico empire!

Right now I don't have any more info than what can be gleaned from the Tower listings, anything in parentheses are my additional thoughts.

1/25 Starsky & Hutch Torino (wha?!?  Talk about coming outta left field! By price appears to be a full-detail kit)

Tommy Ivo Showboat (reissue I'm sure)

2014 Mustang GT (nice that the last of that generation won't be over looked, I've gotten a lot of requests and folks asking if it would be done.  By the price looks like it'll be one of the new pre-paints)

Acura Integra (assuming reissue of the Tuner series kit)

1/24 Porsche 911 (assuming a Monogram reissue, but who knows?)

1/24 VW Rabbit (RoG rebox?)

1/24 1955 Ford Panel truck (judging by the scale, I'm assuming a modified version of the pickup - reissue, forgot that it exists)

Ed Roth Surfite

2014 Corvette Stingray (by price point looks to be pre-paint)

2013 Camaro ZL1 and Challenger SRT 8 (different numbers from prepaints already announced, assuming these are different colors or possibly unpainted versions)

Matt and Debbie Hay's Thunderbird Pro Street (reissue)

Snap kits:

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (assuming modified from glue kit)

1/25 Ford Police Car (assuming the new Taurus-based Interceptor)

2014 Corvette Stingray

Different #'s and cheaper price 2015 Mustang and Audi R8 (assuming these are clamshell packaged versions of the boxed kits, the clamshells usually run cheaper than boxed kits)

Well, that's what I came up with, I'd expect Revell to post something on their Facebook page over the next week or so with more information.

Two-part question re: Edelbrock Rat Roaster inline 2 x 4bbl Hemi intake

03 July 2014 - 08:34 AM

First part - does anyone make one of these sized to fit 1/25th scale kit engine blocks? I tried out one from a Ross Gibson engine and it was way too big, I'm guessing his is probably 1/24th.  I'd like to not waste money buying a part that's just a recast of the Gibson piece.

Second part - if there aren't any available and I were to scratch-build one, would there be interest in using it as a master for a resin piece?  I don't have the materials to do this myself, but I'd gladly loan it to someone in return for a few casts. These were popular on Super Stock Hemi Cudas back in the day.

Wanted: 1/25 Torqueflite transmission in plastic.

02 July 2014 - 01:32 PM

Got a resin Ross Gibson engine, but the dang thing is too big, must be 1/24.

Looking for either the separate Torqueflite from the Revell 68/69 Charger or the combined block and trans from the 68/69 Dart. Prefer to use plastic when I can.

First person to come through can have this Gibson kit, it's #204, the Rat Roaster-equipped SS/DA Super Stock Hemi.

Our Make 'n Take event this past weekend

23 June 2014 - 07:23 AM

MegaHobby.com (where I work during the week) and AAA Hobbies in Magnolia, NJ (where I work on Saturdays) had a Make 'n Take event this past Saturday. We had snap model kits and other crafts and sceince kits as well.  We had a great turnout and the weather was perfect. We were able to get some 2015 Mustangs in for the event and they were a huge hit. No one, kids or parents, had any problems with them. Revell has a winner on their hands with these, they're perfect for this type of event. I think we might have hooked a few new modelers, I know several families went straight from the event over to AAA and bought some more kits!

Read our blog post here: http://megahobbyblog...yfest-2014.html
The local newspapers did a couple articles, this one ran before the event, http://www.courierpo...yfest/10506145/
This one after: http://www.nj.com/ca...r_all_ages.html
That's me on the right, I thought I was leaning out of the shot.  I didn't lean far enough!!!

Moebius '54 Hudsons

02 June 2014 - 04:46 AM

They've been brought up in other Moebius threads, but I figure these deserve their own thread.  There will be a Hornet Club Coupe and a Special Club Sedan (lower trim level)

I'm reading my copy of Doug Boyce's Junior Stock, Drag Racing the Family Sedan over the weekend and notice a 54 Hudson raced by one "Matty Winspur" and the light bulb goes off with the connection to Moebius' Frank Winspur - turns out that's his dad's car!  No wonder Moebius chose to do Hudsons! You can see the car on the board behind the test shot in this pic from NNL East.  I really hope this kit will have decals and Cragars to do the Junior Stock.
