In Topic: Round 2 Purchases Lindberg/Hawk

Lindberg has been on the ropes since they had a massive warehouse fire a couple of years back, loosing alot of their stock in the process, much of it ending up at discount stores for cheap.

Only a win, win situation as Round 2 will now grab the ball and run with it, which is more than Lindberg has been doing lately.

You could also find the colors at Scale Finishes

http://www.scalefinishes.com/

While he doesn't have Petty Red listed, he may be able to source it, and if enough people were interested, he might add it to the growing list of paints he has already.

He does have Petty Blue listed.

I have a couple of cans of the old Testors Enamel Petty Blue spray cans from back when they were still doing the racing colors.

The kit is discontinued by the manufacturer. Whatever is in the hobby distribution pipeline is all there will be. Gone. Finished.

Don,

What is your source for this information?

This kit is still being shown on their website and is listed their print 2013/ 2014 catalogue

The kit is out of production. Stevens International sent me a notice about 2 weeks back saying that it was going and put it on sale. I picked up 2 (one for me, and one for my shop), and they were gone off of their website the next day as they sold out (75% off MSRP will do that).

The one I brought in for the shop sold about 20mins after I posted it on my website. Hind sight being 20/20, I should have bought a couple more.

My enthusiasm for this kit died when SMS abandoned plans to do a detail set. I would still kill for a detailed kit of the GT40. I remember questioning the price then but i never did when the Enzo came out.

KA Models does a pretty extensive aftermarket set for the kit, worth checking out, if I can find one cheap enough (when it first came out it was about the same price as the kit), I may contemplate picking one up.

Now Trumpeter needs to do the other car that was on the box are with the GT40 in 1/12!!!

In Topic: What's up with Revell doing a change up with their names?

10 March 2013 - 07:17 AM

I think it is just a case that the kits being re-released now, that were originally a Monogram kit pre-merger, they are now putting the Monogram name back on. That and part marketing to get the Monogram name back out there as it is nostalgic and flicks that switch in your head that says "hey, I had/built that same kit as a kid....must buy now".

In Topic: Any seen the 1/12 Tamiya Porsche Carrera?

It is out now in the US, but if you thought the Enzo was pricey, this one is about $150 more. Waiting to see if they do the Ferrari 288 GTO personally.
