  1. AWESOME! I went to mikes ebay page, and ordered a new sheet of Jr. decals that included the goodyear tire decals, and some other stuff too. I think it's a powerslide sheet, but I'm not sure. I also ordered a Dale Sr. car with the hood decal I want! Mikes store is awesome! This Dale Jr. kit is unlike any other I've seen. It's a skill 3, the windshield is pre-painted, the tires are hollow vinyl, unlike the previous versions with the solid rubber tires, the wheels are cut out already, and the window net is flexible vinyl too. They didn't make em like this the last time i built a nascar kit, which was sometime around 2002! I'd like to find a COTF kit, but I can't find one (I know Revell stopped producing NASCAR kits, but i figured there'd be a resin kit already), and I dont know which driver I'd like to go with! Maybe an extra sheet of Dale Sr. decals, and make a COTF Goodwrench car! LC
  2. That's what I was thinking. Those 4 screws could hold it on, as long as they just hold that grille on, and not the fan. Hopefully my girlfriend will get it for my birthday. I've dropped subtle hints, like emails with links, leaving my modelexpo catalog turned to the page this is on at her desk, lol. Hopefully she picks up on it! LC
  3. Thanks for the replies! Well, I got my Jr. car in the mail today. Dad got it for me for my birthday. It's the 2005 Monte Carlo model. It IS the bud car, and not the one that says "DALE" across the hood, thank goodness, however, it does NOT have decals for the tires! Revell kit number 85-2884. I hope I'm not supposed to paint them, as that will not look well. I'll check those places out. I've had great service and supplies from scaledreams before. I'd be glad to do business with him again. Are there any retailers that sell resin kits of nascar bodies maybe? Or whole decal sheets for some of the older cars out there? I think I've tracked down a Dale Sr. Car, the one with GM Goodwrench Service Plus on the hood, rather than just the big red PLUS, but haven't gotten it yet. LC
  4. I'm hoping to find a hands on review from you modelers out there that may have experience with this booth. It looks promising, and is perfect for my small space issues (apartment). I would still like to devise a way to hook up exhaust to the back of it though. http://www.modelexpo-online.com/product.asp?ITEMNO=HSE420 LC
  5. Hi Folks, I'm about to start delving back into models after a LONG break. I've also just got back into Nascar, and have chosen a Dale Earnhardt Sr. car and a Dale Earnhardt Jr. car to start on. I'm looking around to find some good detail goodies to add to the Revell kits, as well as Ideas. I've detailed street cars before, but never a Nascar. I'm pretty sure the kit decals will suffice, as far as I know. I found a Ross Gibson engine that I may grab. And speaking of engines, where are people getting these valve cover decals that say Dale Earnhardt Inc. on them? LC
  6. Well, bad news. The pieces of his truck that he had left over were tossed, so I wont be able to get a scan of the color. The only other two options I have now is hopefully the body shop where he had it painted 10 years ago will still have record of his paint code, or, I can take as many pictures as he can find for me and take them to an auto paint store to see if they can mix it by eye. Maybe if they can mix up some green go and add a bit of yellow to it, it will give me the shade I need. LC
  7. Incase I cant get an actual piece of the truck, can they do this from a picture? LC
  8. I know I've posted this picture before, but this is a completely different question, so I created a new topic so people would see it. I'm trying to find a way to identify this paint color, both for scale purposes and 1:1 purposes. For scale, the closest I can get is Green Go by testors, but it's not limey enough. Sublime Green is way to, limey, I guess that would be best to describe it. For 1:1 purposes, is there an easy way to determine paint color? Isn't there a camera that can determine a paint code or something that body shops use? I may be able to get a piece of this truck to determine paint code, if that is possible. The truck was totaled, but he thinks he might still have a piece of the wing, or the old tailgate before he smoothed the new one into the roll pan and bed. When he had it repainted after some body mods, he THINKS the body shop called it shamrock green. The particular body shop that he had it painted at uses Dupont paints. I cant find any swatches or chips online for this color, except for house paints, and it's not close. LC
  9. Ahh...then I'm not sure of the brand. Blue Fin maybe? based on the box? Here's a pic.
  10. While I'm at it, can anyone tell me what kind of spoiler this thing has? In 1:1 scale that is. While I'm doing a replica in scale, I'm also searching for a 1:1 project truck to recreate this truck, and I'm not sure where that spoiler came from. LC
  11. Wow...that's awesome! What kind of stuff are you looking for to trade?
  12. Hello folks, Still working on trying to recreate a scale model of a lowrider truck that I grew up with. I'm looking for wheels similar to what was on the truck. I'm building this out of a Toyota kit by Hi-Lux I think? is the brand. Here's the truck with the wheels I'm searching for. Thanks, LC
  13. Hi folks, I've got some MCG photo-etch pieces that I want to polish to a chrome finish, but I cant seem to find the right product to polish with. The MCG photo-etch pieces come in a dingy brass-gold color, not chrome. What do you guys use to bring out the chrome shine on these pieces? I thought about alclad over a black base, but I'm afraid the black base will make some of the detail disappear. Thanks, LC
  14. These are all very nice Chevelle kits. The 70 Chevelle is my second favorite muscle car, second only to the 69 Charger. I love what all of you have done with yours. Has anyone here that has built this kit used the detail set from MCG? I'm wondering if anyone had any luck with it. The set indicates on the website that it's for use with Revells 1/24th kit, but the supplied Grille just did not want to fit. Also, the thing I mentioned earlier about the scripts on the side, I'm not quite sure what to do about that. There is a little plated area inbetween the 454 and the SS. That wont look to good on a finished kit. I'm thinking about just BMF'ing the scripts before paint. Any suggestions from those of you who have had such good results with getting your side scripts to stand out? Tonio? Tommy? LC
  15. Man, I know exactly how you feel. I've been suffering from lower back pain for 10 years, but that was just the occasional back ache that went away in 3-4 days with rest and ibuprofen. About 6 weeks ago, I was in excruciating pain at my lower back after waking up one morning, and it has not gone away. I went for an MRI, and my L3-4 is bulging, L4-5 is bulging, and L5-S1 is completely herniated. My left leg goes completely numb all the way to the toes at some times, as the L5-S1 disc is pressing into my sciatic nerve. My visit with the neurosurgeon ended up in him referring me to pain management, and a physiatrist who is going to develop a PT program personally catered to my lifestyle. They wanted to avoid surgery at all costs due to my age (26) since I would probably need surgery again in 10 years or less. Back surgery doesn't have overly fantastic results, but it's gotten alot better now a days than what it used to be. Try putting a large pillow under your knees while lying flat on your back when you sleep. If you're a side sleeper, put the pillow between your knees. This helps take pressure off your lower spine. You can also try some light stretching (but dont over do it) by laying flat on your back, and drawing your knees up to your chest, one at a time, and holding that for 10-20 seconds and then releasing. It helps stretch out the muscles and everything down there that are constantly tightened due to your pain. I've been able to get quite a bit of relief by using an inversion table. I ordered one from Fingerhut, which is $100 cheaper than the Teeter hang ups model. It's a Weslo Inversion Flex system. I get temporary relief by inverting at about a 40-50 degree angle for 10 minutes at a time. The pain goes away for about an hour or so, but staying away longer the more I am using the table. Look them up on the internet, and there's all kinds of testimonials about inversion therapy being the one thing above all others that relieved peoples back pain, and kept people from having surgery. As long as you're not over 6'6" and over 300lbs, the Weslo table will work for you, at a much cheaper cost than the teeter hang ups. The only downside to the machine is that it's quite large, even when folded, and heavy. But, if it weren't as heavy duty as it is, I wouldn't trust hanging upside down on the thing. As a disclaimer, I'm going to put it out there that I am not a doctor by any means, but suffer from the same issues, and the above is what has helped me deal with the pain. Always consult a licensed physician before trying anything out. Here's my MRI, the red arrows are pointing to the discs - LC
