W900 Rebuild (repost)

27 March 2012 - 04:10 AM

Hey fellas...

So far... I've had builders block for over a year now. I started a project but only seem to have the inspiration to build maybe twice a month. So I thought I'd repost a project I finished a few years ago. There are some new builders that might not have seen this for the rest you might recall it.

I got this W925 kit off ebay when I got back into model building in '01 or '02. I built this as a heavy haul truck that turned out to be a 5' model. Looked good from 5' back. I rebuilt it several months later using a 359 kit for a chassis donor making it a day cab. Fast forward a few years later I decided instead of opening new kits I'll rebuild projects I had built previously that weren't assembled well from where I rushed to finish. So this W925 again was rebuilt. This one has got to be one of my favorites in my collection. It might not be museum quality built but it turned out exactly how I envisioned it!

Ford Service Truck WIP

26 February 2012 - 08:55 PM

Hey Fellas...

Here's my latest project. I'm using the AMT Ford Louiseville as a platform. The truck/chassis for the most part is being built box stock however making the lights work is being considered. The box inside and out is being detailed similar to the 1:1 service truck I drive/work out of.

In the parts box I had an unbuilt box from a past Louiseville project that didn't get used. From that the side w/out the door was used omitting the side door. The floor boards are basswood strips that were basecoat stained Using Minwax Ipswich Pine 221 and then detailed using Minwax Dark Walnut 2716 to bring out the woods' grain. The plywood liners are 1/32 basswood that comes in a sheet I picked up at HobbytownUSA that too was stained using the Dark Walnut to give it an aged dirty look.

The 1:1 truck is equipped w/ a tire rack that holds 6 LP 22.5's premounted on hub pilot rims. So far that rack has been scratchbuilt and some basswood strips were stained the same way the flooring was which serves as a workbench.

The trans was painted using a Humbrol matt grey and the engine was primered but now it's been painted w/ Tamiya Brilliant Blue. Yes I too thought this was a CAT but have learned that this is a Ford diesel.

In this set are WIP pics and the 1:1 truck I drive/work out of.

C&S Freight Lines (DONE!)

13 December 2011 - 12:33 PM

Hey fellas. I'll calling it quits on this one and it's ready to roll!!! This project was started in 2008.

There are some small repairs that need to be done to this having moved and being in storage but right now I have no desire to fix them! The name C&S Freightlines is fictious. My former girlfriend of 14 years had always asked me to incorperate our names into a project since I got back into truck modeling 11+ years ago. So the C is the first letter of her name and the S is the first in my name. Well we broke up less than a year ago so I guess a project has taken too long when it outlasts your relationship. LMAO!!! So here it is. The latest picture is a little blurry I no longer have a digital camera. That pic was taken and downloaded off my cell. I'm still on the fence deciding to keep this or do the repairs mount everything on a stained base and sell it?

Thanks for looking!!! And it might take a second or two for all the pictures to completely scroll and rotate thru so grab ya a fresh cup of coffee, cold soda/pop or a frosty bottle of beer and relax for a few. LOL
