About Me

hey everyone. my name is Ray McKnight i grew up in paddock lake, wisconsin. i work in the parts department of a dodge dealership...(wishin it was chevy) i have a great family and a loving girlfriend. i love nascar, most of my builds are all nascar racecars. i started building when i was probably about 10 years old. my building desire kind of faded off during high school but at work one day a co-worker brought in a model magazine and i saw this amazing awesome kasey kahne car in extreme detail and i thought to myself wow i could never do something like that! well my mind started turning and thinking about my own abilities. i bought a 1990 dale earnhardt lumina and practiced on that with detail master parts such as window net and seat belt harness. it turned out well! my next project was a more detailed build. the 2001 dale earnhardt jr. pepsi 400 win car. it turned out great...number 1 thing i learned...again...and again...was patience, patience, patience.... im now working on dale jr.'s 2006 richmond win....yah theres a pattern here haha thanks for looking

some parts were missing in the kit but it didnt turn out too bad!

Decal Solvent?

Hey Everyone. I've ran into some problems in the past with older model kits... i built a 1990 dale earnhardt car but the decals didn't want to stick once applied...they just kind of flaked off. the most recent car im building is a mid 90's F1 car. i applied the goodyear decals to the tires but once they started to dry they just started peeling and flaking off. i was wondering if decal set or decal solvent whatever it is would solve this problem or if anyone had tips on how to stop this madness!!! thank a lot!

Hey everyone, i've had this kit for a while now but just decided to finish it tonight!, had planned on detailing the motor but i liked the way it looked with the body down better. first time doing a candy paint job, fun build. thanks for looking

1990 Camaro Dirt Track Racer

Hey everyone! So heres the scoop. I have a 1990 Camaro sitting in my parents driveway taking up space. I would love to race it in the Street Stock class at our local track (wilmot raceway) but they wont allow Camaros, El Caminos, Firebirds and such, even if you were to connect the sub-frame they wouldnt allow it (some bogus rules if you ask me!) so i built the next best thing.... my fantasy camaro stock car. i created the decals myself for the first time using testors decal creator kit. its not as easy as i thought it would be haha. also used a dremmel tool to cut grooves into the tires, slicks dont work so well on dirt so i converted the hoosier slicks into hoosier dirt grabbers:P

After a tough season filled with on-track incidents the car got a fresh paint job, new nose, new primary sponsor and some patch work

After a rainy start of the month it took a while to get the track dialed in, but by nights end the #86 machine came from the back to take the win in the A-main feature event.
