51 Chevy Unconvertible

22 July 2013 - 02:30 AM

Hello again guys, this is another project I've got on the go. Normally Id never buy a convertible kit but I knew I had a roof from a 49 Ford that recently had a roof swap. I had to slice the roof down the center and add a triangular fillet towards the rear but it was a very close fit. I used some half round evergreen for the belt line and window mouldings. Other than the 49 Ford taillights siiting vertical an the peaked head lights theres no plans for any other body mods. Anyways, here's where I'm at so far. As always any comments or suggestions are welcome. Slump bustin' 57 Chevy Kustom

17 July 2013 - 02:12 PM

Hey guys, well I managed to get myself out of my building slump as Id hoped with this one. Ive always had the opinion that the 57 Chev was one of the most perfectly styled cars ever so the challenge I set myself was to build one as a tasteful but not overdone custom so I figured the best way to do that was to use GM styling cues from the same year. The Buick influence is obvious, the dash instruments are 57 9Olds steering wheel is 59 Caddy. I used two cheap diecast 57Corvettes to make the big toothy grin and the wheels are also from the Vette. The colours are brilliant blue and bright silver, I i really wanted ultramarine blue but had no luck finding any. Hope you guys like it. Cheers. 57 Chev into 56 Buick

14 July 2013 - 07:02 PM

Hey all...here's my latest project, I've started with a Revell snapper in case I screw up but the idea is to end up with a 56 Buick mild custom. Here's progress so far, I'm just gonna work one side at a time so I don't get carried away lol. Slump bustin 57 whatchamacallit

21 June 2013 - 01:55 AM

Hello folks. This is what I'm hoping is my slumpbuster, i got to a point where i lost interest so much I boxed up all my supplies kits and unfinished builds...anyway, I bought my all time fave car and decided if this didn't break the slump nothin will!! Im tryin to build this as my ideal 57 Kustom and my idea of pulling that off is what id call a factory parts bin special. So far I've modded the grille to fit two 57Corvette grilles, 57 Buick inspired trim, the gauge pod and trim is designed with the 57 Olds in mind. Wheels are also from 57 Corvette...not sure yet what the color will be...thinkin maybe Cyan blue and a heavy metal flake silver roof. Ideas..comments ...criticisms welcome. 32 Ford oil on canvas

09 March 2013 - 07:32 PM

Hello all. I thought Id share this one here on the forum. Before I started building models my only passion was drawing using paper and pencil. Recently after thinking about it for years I decided to start using paints and canvas. After a few portraits and fantasy stuff I gave some thought about painting a car. This little Deuce is the end result of my first try. Attached File  CAM00131.jpg   95.48KB   71 downloads
