not too sure if if fits in here but ...... it does run supercharged alcohol burning engines and runs in a straight line but I digress, the old AMT tractor/puller nearly box stock (only deviation was the injector hats) Paint is candy yellow faded to candy orange then back to yellow.

not the easiest kit to put together as all three engines and the diff need to go in together almost similtaneously

Pretty much box stock, only deviation was I  drilled out the kits radio face and put in a cd and a set of keys in the ignition. I used Lazy Modeller paint masks, awesome product thats fairly priced, wet sanded the black base coat the left it for a couple of months(building other projects) laid mask in place and primered gently over the mask them mixed the off white on the front which I faded out part way where the yellow would be. Then applied gold base coat from the back to where it just started overlapping the cream(off white). Then sprayed yellow candy from partway through the cream to just past where the orange candy would start, then the orange over lapping the yellow to almost the ends then a red candy overlapping the orange to the ends of the licks then misted it around the ends of the shorter licks

flame on, 49 Merc

03 October 2014 - 12:33 AM

Decided I wanted a merc with a nice set of traditional styled flames on it. Painted the black a few months ago and left it to sit, Got it back out last Monday gone and applied a "Lazy Modeller" mask on it and got busy with the airbrush. 1st was a light grey primer over the black, then a self mixed banana/cream base which for some reason spat and hissed out of the gun,Applied a gold base coat over the worst of the spits and applied candy yellow then a candy orange and finally a candy red,Since the gun seemed to be behaving itself I blended the front in a little better with more of the cream color. Gave it a light clear and removed the mask. Gave the whole car a light coat then a slight wet coat then 20 minutes later 2 wet coats straight after each other of Duplicolor rattle can clear. these pics are how it turned out, I'll give it a light wetsand and polish over the weekend.

F1 32

Some of you may have seen this concept drawing floating around the net, if you havent, well a Kiwi designer wondered what a 32 Ford coupe would look like melded with a Formula 1 car. His concepts looked pretty cool, one in a nod to the old So Cal style and the other (the easy way)in blacks. I did change it up a little partially as I only had and older glue abused F1 car to start with and a severe lack of talent. I did actually make a full cage/cockpit which is almost impossable to see because that too is just shades of black
