In Topic: NASCAR Fire Safety Team Question...

27 March 2013 - 04:27 AM

Hi Guys,

I am looking for photos of the fire rescue teams' pickup based trucks that roll on crashes at the NASCAR races.  Can be from the 80's, as I am looking to build one that served at Daytona International Speedway.  My IPMS chapter is doing a "NASCAR at Daytona" themed club build.  I have searched the Internet, and posted this question elsewhere.  Most of the responses featured a late model  red Pierce pumper.  I am hoping to find some information and reference photos of a truck kit that is/was readily available.  Am I dreaming, or did such vehicles ever exist???  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Also open to something a little different, such as the jet dryers used after rain to dry the track, or any other "different" subject matter...  Thanks!

David

Their are no NASCAR safety vehicles as per the NHRA who has the Safety Safari and travel to every race. Each track is contracted to provide their own safety vehicles.

Thanks guys , the Revell pinto is smaller than the JoHan pinto and this is more correct as far a the front end and spoiler. I only made the roof hood and deck decal the rest were from the kit but I'll be drawing these decals as I'm going to have the body casted . The MPC Challenger chassis is the only one that will fit without heavy modifacations Chuck

So does the Revell Pinto use a different chassis than the rest of the Revell line up, like the Revellution or JJ Vega

Was this chassis (in the Pinto kit) different from the standard Revell chassis that was in the McEwen Duster and the rest of those style kits.

If so can someone post a picture of it, I have never seen it

Thanks

The link above to the Chi Town Hustler, is it the original car or a new modern 'NewStalgia " car ?

Article is worded to say it's the original car, yet some things look wrong, ( rear wheels as an example )

If you mean this one:

That would be the hatch the Chi Town charger had, this is from an earlier forum posting

That is the original car, a young Austin Coil and Jungle Jim Liberman as fill in driver. Jungle died in a street car accident in September of 1977
