1/16 scale "michigan" 6 cylinder

14 March 2013 - 05:37 AM

Moving this topic over into trucks  stuff: Sorry to all the guys out there that have been waiting on completion of this engine; as many of you already know; I have been doing lots of contract work outside my shop for about a year, and I now (finally) have a break to get back to some of my own projects! Been working like a dog to get the last parts done on the michigan 6 engine kit, in 1/16 scale; and it is moving along nicely...the masters are looking pretty good now; and I think I will have the last few parts done in the next couple of weeks; and anticipate having the molds done before the end of April. You can expect a full engine kit with this one.....intercooler (top in/ top out), piping, radiator surge tank, and tranny. The intercooler is engineered to fit around the 1/16 kit radiators; so it's really a drop in fit. Again; Sorry for the delay, and I just wanted to let you all know that this one is finally moving ahead....................Matt

1940 Ruehl Hydroplane Tether boat (bakelite)

19 January 2013 - 04:45 AM

Here's what I have been toiling over for the past few months! This boat was built from an original kit from 1940; the hull is made of Bakelite (remember that stuff old guys?),  The engine is a Hassad/shock one off that is .91 cubic inch, and runs on gas. Although the boat IS setup to run; it will certainly never see the tether pond. The boat is 26" long and 8" wide. Matt

Hey guys; Wanted to share this photo....It's the pair of 1/5 scale 956's I built last fall. They are finally finding a new home on display at the New DBR facility in Geogia....The cars do have large acylic cases for display; but I just love this photo in front of an ACTUAL Lemans cup! Matt

new 1/16 scale engine kit

17 June 2012 - 04:33 PM

Hey Guys; Been a while! Just wanted to let you all know I am finally getting some new work done. Been working on my new "Michigan 6" engine in 1/16 scale....this is the engine that I used in the "longhorn" truck a couple years ago. The engine is patterned from the Italeri peterbilt engine; but I have expanded the details over what the 1/24 engine offered. Many of the small bits that were molded into the engine block are separate parts....Sorry I don't have any pix to post yet; will try to get some up in the next couple days. It looks like the parts count will be around 50 pieces; which is up from the last engine I did. This engine will also feature an included intercooler & piping for top inlet/outlet for the intercooler. I expect to have this unit ready sometime in August.................Matt
