How do you guys prep...

10 May 2013 - 05:33 PM

Like most of you guys on here I try and use a lot of things I have laying around the house. I've herd a lot of you guys saying you use old credit/gift cards, but when I tried to sand it down it seemed to have film on it. Ive used other plastic materials but haven't tried to paint on them yet.

So my question to you guys is, how does everyone go about prepping the tiny parts and different materials like credit/gift cards, straws, the plastic tabs you use to close your bread, etc. Should I be soaking these in something first then sand?

I usually prep everything first with a scuff pad so the glue and filler have something to stick to. Then when finished I wash the whole model with soapy water and rinse before paint but I had never used foreign plastic before.

Any advice and tips I can get from you guys is always appreciated.

"View All" button?

27 August 2012 - 10:31 PM

Wasn't sure where to post this but I saw this on another forum and thought it would work well on this forum. I go through a lot of different topics, as I'm sure a lot of you do, and I noticed more then most topics have 5-7 pages, especially the build pages.
So wouldn't it be great if when we entered the topic there was a "view all" button on the left side next to where the page numbers are that would allow you to load all the pages at once giving you the option to keep on flowing through the topic without having to to keep loading page after page? Just a thought.

Project: "Inferno" 49 Merc *New photos p.10 (3-16-13)*

What's one to do when they are in a jam with their other two builds.....start another of course. After seeing everyone building up some really cool mercs I thought I would finally take mine out of the box and give it a go.

I'm going with the Revell 49' Mercury Coupe, nothing to crazy, just simple clean mods, slammed, and a wild set of flames. Just your typical run of the mill hotrod.

I started by just laying down a couple sets of different sized flames to get an idea how I want it to look before I start the work.

Let's see those chassis'!

I'm in the mist of trying to get my 49 ' merc frame laid out on the ground and I was hoping I could get some inspiration. You guys build a lot of great stuff, but I rarely see photos of nicely laid out frames with killer air ride setups. I would love to see some model scaled street rod, hot rod, lowrider, or any other kind of nicely detailed frames.

So like the title says, let's see em'!

Where can I find...

Where can I find a 1:25 scale 2012 BMW 328i? I have been looking everywhere for my father-in-law but can't seem to find one. Any help would be appreciated.
