Model Master enamel paints

31 August 2012 - 10:16 PM

Is there a way to tell which MM enamel paints are flat and gloss? Does it fall under the number classification(1700's, 2100's, etc.) or by the list (auto, railroad, military, etc.)? I looked at Testor's site but couldn't find an answer. Any help is appreciated.

Can Testors and Model Master enamels be mixed together?

22 June 2012 - 10:25 PM

Has anyone tried this?  I'm trying to match a color and the 2 colors that will get me close, one is Testors and the other is Model Master.  I know that they are both enamel and made by Testors, but Testors thinner says it is a "universal" which leads me to think they might not mix well together.

I welcome any input.

Need some help with a trailer

12 February 2012 - 11:47 PM

I recently got started building again after a 15 year hiatus.  I saw the Lonestar on a racing tv show and I loved it and said that is what I want to build.  So I found one on the 'bay for $53 including shipping shortly before Christmas.  Now I have to decide what trailer I would like for it.  I found a pic from a company out of New Jersey that I really like their paint scheme.  I have included some pics of it.

My question is what kind of tanker trailer is it hauling(Fruehauf, Beall, etc.) and is there a model of it or fairly close to it?  I know the sideskirts on the LoneStar kit are made differently from the tractor in the pics.  How hard would it be to scratchbuild the fuel tank and boxstep?  I've not done a lot of scratchbuilding for models, but I have scratchbuilt a few items for my model railroad.

Any advice and help will be greatly appreciated.

Also, is there anyone who lives in NJ and could possibly get a few more shots of it, like the front, left side and backend of the trailer for a little more detail?  Thanks again.
