Topics I've Started

Hot Rod 77 Chevy

14 February 2013 - 01:19 PM

I started this in 1993 when i was a sophmore in high school. never got finished and got put away.

I found it along with a stassh of old models at my parents 3-4 years ago and decided to finish it. got som work done on her and she again got put away.

And now I finaly am hoping to "FINISH" her for good.

these pics are how i found her a few years ago.

All this work was done when I was 15 years old. paint and the 79 Camaro front suspension swap.

never had a motor for it. was never sure what I wanted in it.

I had to strip the paint on the hood as it was way to thick and oranged peeled. Testors spray paint for ya!

I stripped it buy slowly soaking it in thinner and wiping it off. that was a day well spent as a 15 year old.

then she got boxed up and stashed away.

MY TURBO INTERCEPTOR

21 April 2012 - 07:57 AM

I am a BIG fan of the cult movie "The Wraith"! hence my screen name.
That movie has stuck to me since I 1st saw it as a kid. Especially growing up in a MOPAR family with my father and uncle always having some kind of cool Mopar around! My uncle rented this movie and I fell in love with the Turbo Interceptor! So much I named one of my Mopars "Wraith" and thus the screen name.
As a BIG fan of FWD Mopars and Turbo'd 4cylinder cars this is one of my favorite MOPARS of all time and the basis for MY TURBO INTERCEPTOR!
THE DODGE SRT-4!

yes I know it's a diecast but when its all you have to work with you have to make do!
I even finally scored some different wheels for it.

here is a quick mock up of a one picked up years ago and stripped the paint and have massaged some cast lines in the metal. the black is permanent marker as i am playing around with some paint schemes Were the bare metal is will be a Deep Amethyst Pearl purple  and the wheel will end up gunmetal.

sorry for the bad pics. took them with my cell phone as I still can't find my cord for my camera.
I have opened up the grille and added a scratchbuilt intercooler. The rear spoiler on these are to short so it has a slightly modiflied rear wing from a Revell Acura Type R.
I removed all the lettering cast into the chassis and cut out and scratchbuilt the exhaust. working on some interior fixes as it is not 100% acurate. All it really needs is a few more minor detail to be sorted out and some primer and paint and she should be done real soon.

70 PLYMOUTH ROADRUNNER

On eof my favorite Mopars and one of my all time favorite models to build. Not the greatest model but I bet I have build 10 of these ove my lifetime. Sadly most ended in the trash as a kid.
I built this about 6 years ago. Built it in 2 days for a Local Mopar car show. It came in 2nd place!

Color is a GM color. Ultra Marine Blue. I probably would have hunted for a acutal Chrysler color but this was close to the blue I wanted.
I seperated the ehaust from the rear axle, added my owm aluminum tubing tips, & raised the rear end to fit the big Goodyear meats.
I also added power steering to it. I build it as I would have a actual car.
It is finished. well sort of. I still would like to add rear shocks and maybe mist some primer down the center of the chassis to mimic the look of a acutal car more. I would also like to try to BMF it.
I just wanted to share a finished build on here!
Let me know what you think!
