Scale Auto Hobby & Toy Shows 2013 Schedule
18 December 2012 - 09:36 AM
Have you seen this?
15 November 2012 - 12:05 PM
I saw a commercial on TV for a 1/8th scale McLaren MP4-23 Grand Prix race car model. What you do is sign up for 12 monthly stages of the model. For $99.95 + $19.95s&h...ha ha...a month...you get 1 stage, their wording, with instructions to complete part of the car. It looks like a pretty cool looking model, but $1438.80 for a kit will definately prevent me from participating. At least check it out through the link below.

I didn't go through the whole site, but there looks like there are other models on there too.

'32 Ford Sedan Street Rod
09 September 2012 - 12:43 PM
Revell '32 Ford Sedan. Kept it pretty simple. No wires or after market stuff. Only parts out of the box.
Paints; Body: Model Master Olive Drab
Grille and interior: Floquil Caboose Red
Wheels and engine: Rust-Oleum Bright Red
Frame and trim: Floquil Engine Black
Cleared with Model Master Semi-Gloss
White Walls hand painted: Floquil Reefer White and cleared with Model Master Matte Clear
Can't get a decent picture of it, but the shifter is a bent white topped "Bridal" pin and shifter boot is glue and paint formed paper towel.

"McQ" movie car, 1973 T/A
23 July 2012 - 07:10 AM
This started as a Monogram '70 1/2 Trans Am. It's not 100% updated to a '73...especially the interior. It's a replica from the 1974 movie "McQ", starring John Wayne as Det. Lt. Lon McQ and his "green hornet".
List of mods:
sanded grill and replaced with window screen painted black...retained Pontiac script
heater hoses
vacuum hose from brake booster
spark plug wires with homemade boots
aluminum coil
battery cables
BMF
MRC Goodyear Polyglas GT tires
Trans Am and Hood decal delete
Paint is Dupli Color Emerald Green to simulate Pontiac Brewster Green and Testor's One Coat Laquer Clear. I also weathered the underside, but didn't take any pictures. The model didn't turn out as well as I hoped. The hood doesn't close all the way and the paint started to chip by the hood hinges...oh well. I'll just display it with the hood open anyway.
