looking for help with the paint for Mr Beans mini

01 April 2013 - 11:39 AM

Hi all I have been looking for a good match for the Yellow/Green paint on Mr Beans mini and am struggling to find anything close. I have limited options in terms of paint brands where i live and am reluctant to buy online as i find it hard to judge the colour.

Have any of you guys built a "Bean mini" before ? if so what did you go with ?

Ideally i'd like to mix my own but i am pretty clueless with paint mixing.

Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions, all are welcome.

Phil

This is built from the Tamiya kit, It is box stock and was a really nice kit to build, I'm happy with the results but i should have put more time into getting the Two sides of the tank to fit properly, but you live and learn and i'm certainly planning on building more of the Tamiya bike kits so any experience with them is a good thing. I am also missing a mirror as the dog got at it before i had a chance to take the photos !IMGP1331_zps3f0236eb.jpgIMGP1329_zps9ef835e4.jpgIMGP1334_zps34b8e42f.jpgIMGP1330_zps8f215aa2.jpg

I bought this kit cheap without a box and instructions from ebay and used it as a bit of a "slump buster" after trying my hand at a couple of truck kits with mixed results. It is from a set of 3 kits by Revell. The paint is Tamiya Bright Mica Red and Tamiya clear. It was a pretty quick build taking just over 1 day and is built box stock. I'm quite happy with the results

This is built box stock (curbside) from the Tamiya kit, The kit is basic but it went together with no problems. I painted it with Plasticote Buttercup Yellow and used Plasticote clear, both rattlecans. Its my first time using the clear and it was brilliant, as good as if not better than Tamiya.

Here are the pics, all indoors unfortunately as we have not seen any sun round here for ages !

thanks for looking, as always any feedback or criticisms are most welcome.

Looking for a bit of help with the peterbilt 353 "western life"

17 October 2012 - 09:51 PM

I'm building my first truck model and have come into a little problem, on the peterbilt 353 by revell i have just started the final assembly and The engine cover will not tilt forwards due to the front fenders hitting the cylinders (no truck knowledge, i don't know the name ) attached to the cab. Has anybody else built this kit ? if so how did you get around this issue ? i have followed the instructions to a T and can not for the life of me work out if i have made a mistake or if the kit is just a really poor fit.

many thanks in advance for any help or advise offered
