1959 Ford Custom 300 big block

14 March 2013 - 03:20 PM

This is a Tom Coolidge / Promolite resin curbside converted to full detail using the AMT '58 Edsel. The motor represents a rare Lincoln 430 option and would have made this lightwieght car a potent performer. The resin carves easily and the casting was nice so the engineering itself presented the challenge here. Both cars have the same wheelbase so the kit chassis works well. My dremel thinned panels for a better appearance. Paint is Tamiya rattle can

The anonymous NNL

08 January 2013 - 09:11 AM

For the life of me I have not been able to find a dedicated web site or descriptive information regarding the "NNL". Where is it, who is it, does it have officers, treasurers, what does "NNL" stand for, can I join, etc, etc. I see contests billed as "NNL style", what is NNL style? NNl regional and national events draw large numbers of quality participants but I never see the events posted for pre-registration.I'd like to know more about it's history too.

"Drag Strip Duece" before/after

29 November 2012 - 05:10 AM

Played around with Photobucket edit to give this build a little more "charactor". Didnt really change the basic build though. Seems like now more than ever how a model is presented in photograph has an impact on how people perceive it. I think my photo mods are in the spirit of traditional box art but I also realize there is potential for controversy such as the "removal" of paint flaws, etc.

1959 Ford Custom 300 sedan

This is one of Tom Hoovers excellant resin kits. The build will also use the AMT '58 Edsel for all detail items, both cars have the same wheelbase so the kit chassis fits wheel with only minor adjustments. The interior is another matter. ALOT of scratch building will take place for the doors, etc. I'm thinking 2 tone paint, poverty caps, the big 352 motor, and a 3 on the tree.

Early A V-8

16 September 2012 - 03:14 AM

AMT's venerable Ford Model A Roadster kit lent most of the parts here, the early style Flatty is a generic AMT motor with heads intake modified. The doors open and theres a wood floor. These cars are really basic, this one even has original style model A mechanical brakes and friction shocks. Thanks for looking.
