Resin casting question

I am going to try my hand at casting my own parts. Never done it. I have been doing research on it and bought a kit to try. My question is: would an ac vacuum pump (to remove air trapped in the mold) work? Trying to keep the cost down. It's only 15 bucks at harber freight

Here is a 57 Chevy bel air that I'm doing a door and trunk mod on. I have one door almost completed. This is my first trunk and door mod. It's coming out pretty good so far. I think! Thanks for looking.
