  1. Thanks guys, this one isn't goint to be a fast build up by anymeans. I am shooting for about 3-4 months. Been messing with all the hinges, trying to get that figured out because I want this thing to close up like a real car.
  2. Definately deep dish wheels with stretched tires!
  3. I love the Idea. I have a real 1952 Chevy 2 door that I want to do the same thing to when it comes time for paint.. Here is some motivation..
  4. Ok guys here is another on that I have started on July 5, 2012. It started as a 64 Impala Lowrider kit from Revell. This thing is going RADICAL lowrider of the year style. Chrome undercarraige, kandy patterns everywhere. This is my first attempt at a custom of this magnatude. Look out because it could get ugly! In the beginning... All cuts have been made, seein how it looks all closed up. Here it is all opened up in carshow mode! This is as far as I have made it so far, besides starting to jam and hinge it.
  5. I use a piece of 2 inch masking tape and stick it to my cutting mat then take a hobby knife with 2 blades in it and cut real thin strips. Lay down ALL patterns first. Then tape up one section and lay down a thin layer of kandy, untape and tape another section off, and keep repeating til all sections are finished, then pull off all the pattern lines and you will be left with basecolor lines between all the kandy colors.
  6. Thanks! I bought the PE kit for this but because of the amount of Customizing I didn't get to use any of it for the interior. I mainly just got to use the emblems and the grille. The kit looks like it would give a ton of detail to the stock interior though!
  7. Thanks everyone. Dr. Cranky I am a fan, you got some awesome builds. I really like your weathers rods!
  8. My 49 Merc. I built this a few years ago. Its just a quick rat rod build. Satin black on wide white walls.
  9. Here is my 51 Chevy cruiser. Went with some chrome steelies and thin whitewalls. Tall floor shifter, 3 switches mounted under the dash for the air ride. Spray can copper, with 3 colors of automotive pearls faded in and out, topped with automotive clear.
  10. I only have a few that have been finished since I got back into building. I took a break for a few years, but have recently gotten back into it pretty heavy. Here is a 62 Pontiac Catalina that I recently finished.. Went with a 70's style lowrider. Spray can "Electric Pink" base on the bottom, HOK "Orion Silver" on the roof with a couple light patterns.
  11. WOW, Thanks everyone for all the compliments. It means ALOT to me. I don't even know where to start... the masking of this beast was all done with a hobby knife with 2 blades in it. Took a piece of 2 inch masking tape about 10 in long and stuck it to my cutting mat. Then I took the 2 bladed knife and started cutting strips and laying out the patterns. Each color had to be masked off seperately. I stuck the pattern lines down really good and then when I masked each section off, I stuck all of the tape on my hand or tee shirt before sticking it on the car to make it not very sticky. This is so when I untape each section, my thin pattern lines stay stuck to the car. Thanks again everyone for making me feel so welcome!
  12. Whats up Darkside, thanks man, preciate it. Tingos stopped by my thread and gave me props... Not gonna lie, made me pretty happy. He is pretty cool from what little we have talked.
  13. Thanks, yea they are time consuming, every now and then I gotta build something quick and not as crazy to make me feel like I am making progress.
  14. Thanks Joker.. This is my first thread, I have only been back into building for about 9 months, after about a 4 year break, and even before then I wasn't doing it that much. I am still learning all the tricks and techniques with the airbrush, but getting better with practice. There will be alot more pattern jobs coming soon. Got a CRAZY one in the works right now.
  15. 62 was done with a $30 airbrush and a 1 gal. 1/2 HP compressor/tank. Any air compressor will work as long as you have the right fittings. You would NOT beleive how much your paint jobs will change after going to air!!
  16. You got an airbrush?? If so I can walk you through it, it isn't as hard as it looks. Just a little tedious and time consuming, but as long as you take your time and don't over do it on the paint you should be fine!
  17. Thanks JunkPile. I hope I am killing you in a good way. I wasn't sure how some of the guys on here feel about the lowrider culture. I am huge on lowriders because of the amount of skills that go into some of the eye catching paint jobs, and chrome suspension and what not, but I LOVE me some hot rods and rat rods too!
  18. Not even close homie! He is top notch, and a real cool dude. This is my first attempt, definately not the last!!
