Actually, we have my father to thank. He's a photography nut and took it upon himself to photograph as many as he could.

I'm sure the VW is based on the Hasegawa tool, as it still has the incorrect wheels (and Revell has previously sold a version of it).

Previous versions of that kit didn't come with any engine detail or hinges for the doors and rear hatch, so I was just wondering if those details have now been added...

That Ferrari California looks like a "must-have"!
I'm also glad to see the Trabant and the VW bus reissued. Are the doors hinged on the VW now? And does it now have engine detail (I noticed the engine lid is open in one of the pictures).
I also see the Trabbi now has an opening hood & trunk as well!

You want talk about thick A-pillars, you ought to see the ones on my wife's Chrysler minivan. On the rare occasions I drive it, I find myself bobbing my head back and forth trying to look around it while I negotiate corners. I'm 6-4, so at the least the mirrors don't block my vision...

And since I own a 1:1 '70 Challenger, I can tell you that 1) the A-pillars on it are MUCH thinner than anything being built today, and 2) it IS a rattletrap, but I love it anyway!

Recently hit the big four-oh myself, with no sign of slowing down! I build 12-15 kits a year, and have been active since my wife (regretfully) encouraged me to get back into it when we were still dating, many moons ago.

I didn't get the pleasure of meeting Bob in person, but I've chatted with him on various forums and know of his achievements. He will be sorely missed.

I inherited it from a family member. She's too ill to drive it anymore so she gave it to me since I'm the only gearhead in the family. Although I didn't pay anything for it, it's bittersweet given the situation.

UPDATE: Got my Chally last weekend. She needs some work, but she's straight, original, and has very little rust (AND I got her for FREE! ):

Hmmm...I'm going with "real", but what do I know...

I have one of these too (unbuilt). Mine was made by Marui (aka "TILT" because the Japanese characters on the box resemble that word).

I used to frequent a LHS in the 80's and was amazed at the number of "old" JoHan kits they had. As a teen at the time I too thought the subject matter was strange, but I did eventually buy one: the 62 Chrysler 300H.

A few months later the store was destroyed by a fire! They eventually reopened, but without any of those old kits. I sure regret not getting more of them when I had the chance...

Got a fleet of my own...

Daily driver: 1991 Honda Civic. I picked this one up cheap with a blown motor and swapped in a JDM B16A VTEC motor, 5spd trans with LSD, and too many other mods to list here. I commute 70 miles a day round trip, and if I keep my foot out of it I get 36-39MPG. It drops to about 33MPG when I don't...

66 Chevy C10 short fleetside, currently undergoing a heart transplant. Was a 6 cyl/3-on-the-tree manual, will soon have a 350/700R4.

My '65 VW that I've owned since '89. Converted it to 12v, lowered it, and added the ragtop myself. It currently has a dual-carbed 1641, but I'm going to open 'er up into an 1835 once the truck's back on the road (one thing at a time)...

My first car and I still have it: 73 Plymouth Duster, bought in 1986. Originally a 318/904 car, I swapped in a 400HP 340/727 a few years back. Now that the mechanicals are sorted out the next step is to resore the original black & white bucket seat/console interior and repaint it in the original B5 metallic blue...someday...

I won't bore you all with pics of my wife's minivan.

Coming soon: '70 Challenger! It has a 318 for now, but there's a 440 lurking in my garage...
