Thanks. I planned on making a new interior tub anyways.

Project "Low Expectations" Ford f-250 Super Duty Slammed
Hey everybody. This is my first true project since I've gotten back into building afer about 5 or 6 years from taking a break. I am building a Ford F-250 Super Duty pickup truck that will be fully custom inside and out. I don't have any progress on it yet. I just got it earlier today and just opened it up. I am about to cut the doors open and get started on some of the easier things I can do first. Here are some of my plans for it. I know it is allot, but I want a big challenge. Without the challenge, I would get bored and quit.

Fully custom frame with bags and 4 link.
    Convertible Hard-Top roof.
    Fully custom interior.
Raised bed floor (Not sure about stock or smooth styrene.)
    Body dropped.
Flat black with red accents here and there.
Stock rims (unless I find something better).
    Openable "zig-zag" style doors.
Openable reversed hood with 2" cowl.
Not sure on engine yet (don't want to use the supplied I6).
    Shaved tail lights.
    Tubbed front inner fenders.
    Possible custom grille.
License plate relocated to back window in custom frame.
    Possible sound system (most likely).
    Highly detailed all over.

Feel free to give suggestions/tips and post pics of what you have done.

    What about a 3.9 4BT?

Thanks. Glad to be back. I've missed doing all of this stuff.

Well. We are in the process of moving right now also and while going through my closet, I found a box of old(ish) models that my uncle gave me 4 or 5 years ago. I always wanted to build them, just never got around to it. I was going through the box and it seems most of the models are AMT, but all of the parts are mixed up and it would be more effort than it is worth to try and figure out what parts got to each car, so I am just going to throw all of it into a better box and now I have all kinds of parts. I may use the bodys in later projects or chop them up and use pieces as I'm customizing different projects. This makes me feel better now, because I thought I was going to have to start my parts collection over again, but now I have a good base to start with again.

Yeah. I plan on it later when I get done working outside. I have allot of things I need to do. I am going to order the model on monday afternoon.

I know. I am remembering allot of tricks that I am reading here that I knew before.

I will. If I get the chance, I will take some pics tomorrow of some of the old kits I've built. Some of them are starting to fall apart due to falling and having stuff fall on them.

Thanks man. I have browsed just about every thread that is even remotely close to what I am wanting to build and many that aren't even close. I still have about 4 kits that I need to finish, but I want to throw a little twist into them before I do and I need to think of what I want to do and this Ford is going to be my time filler for now.

    Getting back into building.
It's been at-least 5 or 6 years since I've built or even touched a model car. About half-way through last year, I was going to get back into it but complications with my 1:1 truck stopped that. I've been watching the site here and getting inspiration for something to build to get used to it again. I'm taking a break from my 1:1 truck for now and have been working on a few models that I started a long time ago. I was able to save most of my old paints and glue. Now that I have kinda gotten the hang of everything again, I am going to make an attempt at building a extremely modified truck. Usually I just built the models straight out of the box. I know I will be criticized for jumping directly into major modifications, but I want a challenge.

I am going to use the Monogram Ford F-250 Super Duty extended cab long bed pickup. I am going to form a fully custom frame for it to lay frame on bags. I am thinking about doing a chop top also. I don't want to use some crappy looking huge wheels and tires on it either, so I'm probably just going to use the stock tires unless I can find some decent ones. I am going to raise the bed floor to hide most of the bag equipment. I am thinking about doing a body drop too with custom interior pieces. Going to paint it flat black with some other color accents here and there.

I know I have allot of work ahead of me in this project, but I am fully willing and will learn anything I can to do this. Any tips/tricks are and will be appreciated.

Because before I jump to a quick conclusion, I am going to give it a nice tune-up and see if that helps with any of the noises. I have worked on allot of engines where a simple tune-up can help quite a few problems.

I am not stupid, so don't come jumping on my like you know everything.

The truck never sat up for more than a couple months at a time. And the noise doesn't go away after warming it up. I have let the truck run for about 30 minutes the other day and it never got quiter. I am going to start with small stuff and do a tune up on it such as new plugs and wires, oil change, new filters, and all that good stuff. If none of that helps it, then I will procede to start tearing it apart.

And I do know what I am talking about. I grew up in a mechanic shop. When I wasn't in the shop, I was with my dad working on his vehicles. I have learned allot more than allot of people care to. Although I am better with the V8s than I am with V6s, I still know my way around them.

The deal with the only junkyard around me is ran by Iranians that can barely speak english. I am rebuilding this also since this will be my first v6 rebuild. I am used to building up V8s. I am not replacing it with factory parts. I usually don't even trust engines or trannys from junkyards since I don't know the history of the vehicle.

I would, but none of the local junkyards will let you run the vehicles or test the engines, so I would be running the same risk of buying an engine that is in the exact same shape mine is.

It's not carborated. But the truck did sit up for a while since it was a deer-lease truck for 8 years before I got it and dirt dobbers did find there way into the intake and built nests all inside it. I thought I had gotten all of them out, but apperantly, there were some that were a little further down that I couldn't reach.

I know there are ways that I can get a building table and materials really cheap. But since I don't have a real job, (only 17 and trying to get the truck running for a job), all of my money that I do get has to be focused towards the truck for a while. I am not a spoiled rich kid that gets hundereds of dollars a week in allowence. I have to work for everything I get now. So I have no idea how long it will be before I can get back to the hobby. I will try my best to stay on the forum when I can to keep in touch with everybody and keep getting ideas.

Yeah. These trucks are really tough. I love mine to death too. I wish mine was a manual, but the 4.0 with a manual was a really rare package.

At-least you still have it. What kind of swap you going to do in it?
