  1. these are 1/25th scale models of our 1-1 altereds on my drag strip mini dio. hope you like it. the first one is us racing in 1/25th and 1-1!!
  2. hi guys! it seems for some reason i don't get notified of responses on threads very soon after a post is done or i would have got back to you earlier. thanks for the compliments on the tank. Eeyore, i just painted them with some of that real shiney silver spray paint you can get. you know, the kind that has the cap that looks like chrome and it's real shiney on the part until you try to clear it, then it looks like brushed aluminum. i just let it dry for about three days before i handled it. once it is really dried, it keeps its shine pretty good. jeffinvt, i don't make them for sale, i am not very good at making money from my talents. i just get a kick out of finding out how to do something and sharing it with like minded people. that is why i am showing you guys how to make them. Uncle Mike, i use photobucket hosting site. there is a small box under the pic, left click it and a green check mark will appear. then go to the bottom of the screen and you'll find some long blue boxes. left click on the farthest right one."generate html and ing codes" this will take you to another screen. left click on the third one, the words, "img clickable thumbnails for message boards-recommended". once you do this it will turn blue and say to the left "copied". now just go to this page and right click and a list will come up. left click on paste and it should paste the pic in thumbnail form. easy no? man i got a headache!!
  3. hey guys! sorry i haven't been on for awhile. i didn't bookmark this thread and forgot about it. i am sorry for the pic quality. i keep trying to snag a better camera on egay but, they keep getting out of my price range. as far as the 1-1 goes, if you go here you can see how far i've gotten. i did the same mods to the model but, in 1/25th scale. http://ratrodsrule.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4443
  4. noname, that is just to real looking. by the way, we have a drag race called the antique nationals here and there is a guy who runs a chevy just like this. it also has a 6 banger too, it's faded green though. nice build.
  5. in my latest truckster project i needed a long moon gas tank to put in the bed, so i made one. i looked in search but, didn't find a topic on making these, so here is my way. i made a ram out of wood and used a sink adapter about the right diameter. i heated up a .040 sheet of evergreen plastic and pushed it through. viol! end caps. now just glue them on the end of a .375 piece of round tube the length you need. i made the mounts out of the same sheet of plastic. what'd ya think.
  6. this is sad news. i always liked his music. i am not a big music fan but, he was good. also wrote alot of funny songs. i remember him saying about his songs," if i can't write funy stuff, then i'll quit".
  7. Well, it isn't finished yet, a few things to do like wires and drag link etc, etc, but here it is. I just loved the look of this when i saw it in the mag last year and went out and bought 3 of these kits. I also bought a 1-1 truck and am in the process of building it, but ran out of money. hahahaha. It has also been real hot all summer here in the desert and i am not a fan of hot weather so i have been building models instead. Now you may wonder "why do i live here?". Except for the summer, it's nice but, i digress. Anyway, whoever says models are expensive has never built a 1-1 car. I started building this also to see what problems i might encounter. I think it has come out pretty good. It's not exactly like the mag pic but, i am tring to make it like the 1-1 truck and that is dictated by money, again. Sorry for the pic quality, as my camera is not very good. Click on the pic for a bigger view.
  8. are there really people that will pay this much? is there that many people that have this kind of money for something like this? don't get me wrong, it's an exceptional work of art, but really. http://cgi.ebay.com/1912-Ford-Model-T-Runa...1QQcmdZViewItem
  9. first i want to say, my posting this is not to take away from your model. man, i love the jeep days of funny car and aa/fa. i came across this and thought you might like to see it. i guess "like minds think alike" i have been thinking about building one to run in our nostalgia series here for along time. nothing as much as these, but a 10 seconds and slower class called open wheel. there were three well known jeeps in the day, holy toledo, destroyer and secret weapon. there were alot of bracket ones, but they didn't get as much ink as these three. i seen all of them run at lions back in the day. anyway, i love your jeep. you know, i just might have to build my 1-1 somewhat like it. this is jim "wild wild west" aa/fa he built. i don't believe he ran it very long and if i am not mistaken, it burned up or crashed or something.
  10. isn't that just a great altered? good job. i am an altered nut and have bought about 15 of these to use to build all kinds of cars. just a side note: you do know that this is the second version of this car. this is the one they built after the first one crashed. this one used a logghe stamping company frame and was originally built to be a funny car. it was in some kind of legal ownership stuff and mousey and willy managed to get.
  11. the willys jeep funny cars were some of my favorite cars back then. i loved the little play on words with the topic too. Johnny West built a AA/FA jeep back in the day but, it didn't do well. i bought all the stuff to do one of the secret weapon jeep but, haven't got to it yet. love your model too.
  12. i saw a decal for sale of the "BIG DRAG T" i know i have seen the model but i keep thinking it was 1/8th scale. the decal says it is 1/25th. i did a search, but either i don't know how or i do, not sure which (lots and lots of pages). anyway, can some of you knowledgable people help me out before the auction is done. i am not sure if it is old age or all the drugs i have to take, but i can't seem to remember much these days. thanks in advance, just in case i forget. gary
  13. for what it is worth, harbor frieght has a speed control too.
  14. one of the strange things about the fuel pumps on those water boiler flatheads is, if you are going up hill and run out of gas, the pump couldn't suck the fuel out of the tank and up to it to feed the carbs. that was back in the days of 6v systems. most people today use an electric pump on hot rods. i run an electric on my race car naturally. it always amazes me jairus how much you know for such a young fella!!
  15. well, it just goes to show ya, this site has it all. thanks alot. gary
  16. i did a search but after five pages i gave up. is there a kit that has the electric fans people use on their street rods and such? thanks
  17. i really don't know how to ask this, but has it or is it possbly in the future, a build on hugh tuckers aa/sr drag car. it is made by drag city casting. i have it, and ed fluck jr told me to use the amt '32 chassis, but everyone i get is differnet. i would like to see somebody build it that has more talent than me right now, so i can see what i am in for. thanks
  18. just a note on the rat vs traditional rods. http://ratrodsrule.com/forum/ http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/
  19. that is so cool it makes ya wanna cry. i have this book called "muroc when the hot rods ran" by william carroll. it is about a day at the lakes. may 15, 1938. i can tell you your model is dead nuts on the money. great build. there was always different thoughts on the hood though. did the areodynamics provide more speed than the negative wieght of it slow it down. either way, that is so nice. love the weathering. in this book, the main culpurts flat tow there '29 roadster from la to muroc and i thought what would make a cool mini diorama would be dust weathering and something like a "A bone" truck towing it. anyway, great job!!
  20. first i will say, i hate it when people say this to me, when i want to do something like this , but here it goes. there are several vw altered and funny car bodies out there made of resin. maybe they can give you a shorter route to the end product. sometimes i build completly from scratch and other times i try to redo something out there into what i want.
  21. see, i new if i prompted you guys, you'd give us the goods. thanks alot for clearing this up for us. what is it they say, "a picture is worth a thousand words". i had been wondering how all this was done. now i know. thanks
  22. could it be the hurst hairy olds?
  23. i was in a wal mart a few weeks in a row and they kept putting this kit on the shelf after i bought all of them each time. i got about 8 of them. also the same thing with the '65 ply hemi under glass model too. the real reason for this post is, yours seems to sit lower than the others i've seen? great model build also!
