Nice job on ratting that out. Looks like some of the old pickups from back in the day on the farm! -
'32 Ford roadster gluebomb rework. April 26: back on track

Loving the rebuild, it is going to be a looker so keep us updated. -
Especially since they are now in the 70K zone if in good condition, Have seen some in the low 15K however, not total rebuilt!

Yeow! Looks like you could get in this baby and drive away! Makes me envious of your ability!

This will be a great project car. Keep us updated.

Thanks Anne for your opinion, I kind of agree with your take on T-birds, but this kit really is BORING! I have to do something to perk it up, and like Monty said, those conti kits make it look like a lead sled! I was 9 years old when these came out, never much cared for the kit! Ford could have really made these models into Corvette killers if they had had the balls to do it. But putting a conti kit on the rear was nothing but stupid at best! There is one car on the net I have been looking for and it seems it must have sold. It's really a cool custom 56 Bird in Burgundy. I guess I just need to start at it and see where it leads me.

Nice job. Very clean and the decals jump out at you! one thing, the heads and valve covers are from a Hemi, not a 440 CID. Correct me if I am wrong.

I just opened a new box with a '56 T-Bird that has the body molded in Red...FUgly red. It's a 1/24 Monogram kit from 1982. I am debating whether to finish it as stock, or maybe make some serious changes, although I do like the early Birds! Have other done this build? I would appreciate it if anyone wants to comment or suggest what I should build this as! All comers are welcome, as I love ideas. Here's a few shots of what I have here.

Wow that's crazy that you even have a prob. with the support also! Have you tried fitting other parts together yet? Since your having all of these problems I really would ask Revell to replace it. These problems are things I for sure didn't have. -

I really like the stock one, but am really on the fence as to which way to go. I just started it and I need to make a decision soon. I have a '97 Mustang Cobra Mod motor that I am thinking, if I go custom I'll drop that motor in it. There seems to be plenty of room, will keep updates on here also. -

Love your truck, Bed is awsome, I like putting wood in beds like this. My 55 f100 even has the dash all done up with wood along with the side panels of the doors. Your paint job is sweet also! -

lol, maybe the Autoworkers in Dearborn were on strike. Too bad though you had these problems. Good luck, and when finished be sure to post it so I/we can see the pics. Hang in there. -

All of the parts went together well. Nothing wrong with the hood, or frame, went together like it's supposed to. Did you get yours from a hobby store? I wonder if you got a model that had been sitting close to a heat source, last summer I bought one it had been sitting in a window at the guys place I bought it from the thing looked like I was on acid trip because it was so warped. Take it back if you bought it from anyone other than a person like I did. 12.00 bucks down the drain! The color is almost the exact color that came on some of the 55's, here is a link that I used for the color on the exterior, it's the one on the left. http://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gallery/sizeimage.php?photoid=227399&.jpg= Thanks for the nice words. I was hoping that some of the people on here would be rough on me to make me do better, but still appreciated. I used some basswood thinking 1/32 square, to make the side posts. I was going to put them on all straight and purty then I remembered the PU my dad had, we had hauled a large Black Angus Steer to have it butchered, he almost tore off the side boards and posts before we could get him to back out into the cattle chute. I think he knew he was about to be made into juicy steaks! -

Thanks to all for you kind comments, I recently started modeling after a 40 year hiatus. I am learning allot thanks to this and other forums. I built the PU here with testors...never again! Came of age I suppose. I tried some new stuff with this truck, such as the wood bed and rails, wooden dash. I am taking baby steps here building because I am learning all over again. I will attempt BMF on my next build, and your right about spraying everything possible. Using paint and brush to do the carriage makes it rather muddled, not sharp. I am going to do a 50' F100 next. Can't wait. -

Thanks for the complements, I found some perfect sized strips of bass wood at "Caboose Hobbies" here in Denver. I cut them to size, and then got some "Evergreen" channel strips cut them to size, then simply glued the strips to the plastic bed. The way that I made the wood look more like real Oak was I used a double ended pen I found at Hobby lobby, the name is "Prismacolor" premier. The color is "Goldenrod" and I used both ends to make it give it the grain, then metalized the plastic strips to give them that look. With the graining I went over it numerous times to get dark and light grain. The Basswood comes in allot of precut sizes, and what I used was I think is 1/32". My dad had a PU like this back in the early fifties, same color, and the bed was refinished by myself and my dad, so that is the look I was after. I really enjoyed this build, and will be doing another one soon. -
Food Dehydrators & Paint Dryers
cobramike replied to JayVee's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Anyone here have a favorite food dehydrator for paint drying, and food drying also? I had one of those "Ronco's" and it almost melted the body of the car, This was about 20 years ago, and I never used one again for that purpose. -
have I ruined my decals?
cobramike replied to cobramike's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks for the info Magnum. I couldn't believe that I had left the bottle sitting so close without the top on. I always make a point of closing everything because I know that the worst can and by golly id did happen. I tried to salvage a few of the decals but they are so badly crimped they weren't workable. If my wife hadn't tried to use a paper towel or anything else to try to soak up the liquid they wouldn't have got so messed up. (I know blame the wife) If I call Revell and they are willing t send me a new set how long will it take to get a new set? -
I really blew it this afternoon, my wife got sent home early from work because of the snow here in Denver. I am working on my 2010 Shelby gt500, I was in the process of cutting out the really small decals that is used on the dash, and had a open bottle of "Micro Set" sitting close by. My wife asked me some question and when I went to look at her I hit the bottle of MS and it spilled onto the complete decal sheet, leaving the whole thing soaked, and then she takes the sheet to the kitchen and tried to use some paper towel to soak it up...which lead to the decals sliding all over and the sheet, one on top of another decal. I made it to the kitchen and looked in horror at what my clumsiness had begot. So here's my question; will the decals still be viable after they dry? Will the buckling in the stripes crease them and is the whole sheet now just a throw away? Will Revell send me a new sheet of decals if I ask them nicely? Any thoughts or knowledge about this would be very helpful.

It is nice to see that there are allot of people that really do have a love for cars, that is good because that is what drives our passions here in the model world. If there ever is a kit made of it, I would probably try to fit the motor into a 2010 or newer Mustang gt (if they ever produce a 2011-13 model) As for actually buying something like this car, I seem to be about 4 mil short at the moment!

That black line on the spoiler is actually an integral functioning part of the the spoiler called a "Gurney Flap", on actual car it helps to streamline the body and allow air to flow smoothly past the back of the car creating less disturbance. So it needs to be left black, on the real car it is a satin black. My kit (1/25) calls for it to be painted body color! I hope this helps someone.

I wonder how many owners of Hyundai's will still have their car when the 100,000 mile/10year warranty expires? The company knows that they will only last 2-3 years at best, then those owners will move on to different cars, but in the meantime the company makes a fortune off of gullible American buyers who believe the advertising. I have a 97 Ford pickup way over 100K that makes it 16 years old, still runs like a new truck, Also have a 98 Mustang Cobra that is 15 years old, it's like a new car, also have a 04' Mustang GT that is now 9 years old. Point is, I seriously doubt that you will ever see a hyundai vehicle still running like it is almost new when that odometer hits the 100K mark, if so I want to see what it looks like, lol!

This is all pretty funny actually, I guess the advertisements do work on some people! I worked as a GM for a "car rental co.", in 2009 the company bought allot of Hyundai's because of a great "deal" that we couldn't pass on. We had so many different issues with these cars it created real problems for us because of always having so many of the fleet in the garage or waiting for long periods of time to be repaired. We got them new, and we were to turn them back to Hyundai at 30,000 miles. We had to break the deal with the Hyundai Co. because we couldn't afford to have so many vehicles out of service waiting for parts, and repairs for extended periods of time. We would run out of cars to rent, yet there would be 40-60 cars and suv's sitting on the lot we couldn't use. We had every imaginable problem with them, from windshield wiper arm teeth stripping and the wipers being useless (last thing you want if you rent a car) to heater's not working, to windows stuck open, or closed. We also had allot of the Santa Fe's that the 4 wheel drive's wouldn't work to just being flat out busted internally! I rid ourselves of a huge problem when we sent them all back to Hyundai! Never again!
