  1. One of my first two-tone paint-jobs: amt's 56 Fords (the red is brush-painted, the other colors are rattle-cans, trim is Humbrol silver) - also around 1984
  2. My first spraypaint job (rattle can, clear is brushed on again): amt's 49 Merc. (about 1984) - bare metal foil has been applicated 20 years after.
  3. here are some of my "firsts" in painting: 1: Monogram's '57 Corvette - brush painted clear gloss directly on the red plastic (Humbrol enamel), trim is silver paint
  4. Excellent build - could be mistaken for the real one! Well done weathering, too - I especially like the contrast between the chromed hydraulic cylinders of the dump body and the rest of the vehicle - simply great!
  5. Thanks guys, for all of your kind word - I appreciate that very much ! @ Sam (Sixties) : I would rather say over 20 years in the waiting/sleeping - and a few months in the making. @ Peter/Peteski : As I was ashamed that it took that long, I dispensed the agreed payment for the building and sent it off as a present. @David/Espo : obviously it worked - the model arrived undamaged. @Miles/youpey : people in Germany (and here in Austria, too) don't move so often (especially when they have a big house and a doctor's office in a small town...) @Chris/BeakDoc : I just wanted to prove myself that I could bring this finally to an end!
  6. Exactly - could have been Stuntman Mike's 3rd car if he had survived the fight against the girl gang...
  7. Luke, this is one great model - very well done - looks superb (but ugly box-art!)
  8. Excellent model, Salih ! Very well done, perfect paint and execution!
  9. Free at last – or: Happy end of an (almost) neverending story How it all began: in October, 1999 I’ve been commissioned to build a model of a ’48 Chevrolet Aerosedan for its owner, a dentist from Germany. He sent me a check as a prepayment for the kit and the spray-can (BMW royalbluemetallic, in which his original restored car had been painted), a photo of his car and some information and closed with the words “… then I will hear from you as soon as the little car is finished”. He surely thought that would take a few weeks, maybe months (that was, what I also expected) – but not MORE THAN 20 YEARS ! How it all ended: I sent it to him as a Christmas present, it arrived – obviously undamaged – on Dec. 22nd, 2020 in Germany. In these 21 years I more than once lost my joy in modeling: I wanted to create the perfect model – and did not succeed. Several failures, various obstacles, some fitting problems in the final stages (hood-fenders-firewall), necessary improvisations for lost tiny parts (door handles, additional headlights), scratch-built headlight visors etc. The ignition cables did not work as I wanted, so I left them off, the sun visor of a ’50 Chevy PU was used as it looked more like the real one, but I lost the supports so I had to scratch some, the self-sticking chrome trim was a real pain, and finally the stance is not right (too high in the back) – but in the final assembly stages there could not be done anything so I left it. As I had no contact to the real owner for more than 20 years, I was hoping that he was in a good health and that he still owns the car. So I said to myself: do it as good as you can (I’m rather out of practice and 20 years ago my eyes have been better!) and send it off instead of putting it back once again. His surprise and joy when unpacking the box must have been really big according to the e-mail he sent me immediately. Finally, I can move on to other building projects that have been stalled because I always had in my mind : “at first, you have to finish the car for Dr. S. …” Such situations can really block you – I never ever will build for anyone else but for myself again! Here are some pics – an early mock-up from 2005 and the final result before sending it off.
  10. Hi Greg, if you look at the 3rd pic (= the 2nd model pic), you can recognize the segments on the windshield that are cleaned by the wipers.
  11. Up to now, I didn't even know this kit existed - it is a really weird creation; I saw the real custom 50 years ago in the book "the craziest cars of the world" from 1971
  12. This is as good as it gets, Anders - superb color and execution and awsome photography, too - when seeing such perfect models, I have the urge to sell off all my kits...
  13. all very nice models - I've built the very first version in about 1983, then under the Monogram name - box stock, with the addition of a headache rack from amt's KW Alaskan Hauler to hide the tabs on the backside of the sleeper.
  14. Very nice, Doug - I built this one almost 40 years ago, and its wheels were too small back then - this one looks much better (look like the former ERTL wheels)
  15. Looks great, Dave - both of them! You see these early GT40's very seldom as built-ups!
  16. Great news - my second holy grail in model trucking after the Peterbilt California Hauler (little window) - simply a must-have!
  17. Simply fantastic - with another background it could go for the real thing ! Road grime, dirt, dust and diesel fuel - and above all theworn-out, bleached color of this rig - great work! I will save the pics as inspiration for my own kit.
  18. Outstanding models, Jürgen - great sense of humour and nice photography, too !
  19. Well built model of a famous racing car of two legendary drivers. I have only once seen this kit (built-up) - it must be 30 yrs. ago...
  20. Unbelievable, Thomas: it took me 20 years to get ONE model done - and you build 20 models in ONE year!!! The '64 Galaxie is my favourite of these, but all look very nice.
  21. Very nice model, Yuri - great to be in the world wide modeling community and have the possibility - in this case - as Austrian to admire the work of a Russian fellow who built an excellent model of a legendary American car! Excellent photography, too!
  22. Very nice line up, Gary - these are my favourite race cars - most impressive models!
  23. Goodness gracious, Kurt - while it took me 21 years to finish one model, you built that many in just one year (I did not count) - as a sports racers fan, I like the Chaparral 2 J most!

    My 2020
