Thanks. I was planning on doing a mid to late fifties style hot rod.

Hey, I'm thinking about dropping a Revell Parts-Pak Caddy in an AMT '36 Ford, does the engine come with a suitable transmission?

Ooh! Maybe they could do a custom 2n1 Stearman with the Red Bull parts as the "custom" version.

Even though it's in 1/25, the Revell 1948 Ford could donate some parts for the interior (like the seat, for instance), in order to go a more "traditional" route. At least that's what I'm going to try.

    Testors 1/48 Nieuport 17 Help
    Hi all,

A friend of mine has given me a partially assembled Testors Nieuport 17. I am in the process of building it and making it more accurate. One of my problems lies in the paint, as he sprayed it in his barn, on a cold day, with silver housepaint. I need a way to strip the less-than-stellar coat of paint off, without sanding. I don't really want to destroy whatever minimal detail there is by sanding. On a side note, this model is descended directly from a 1950s Hawk mold, and has molded on roundels. I have an aftermarket resin rotary engine, and a leftover cowling and top wing from the Eduard Nieuport to better detail it.

Please give me an answer in regards to the paint. I have tried Pine-Sol, and it hasn't worked.

I've looked around in my parts box, and I DO have a flathead with a LaSalle box! Thanks anyway, Bill!

I think I might have a flathead with a LaSalle box somewhere. If I don't, well I won't turn it over!

Whoops! I discovered, after a bit of research, that the December 1955 cover car was equipped with a full house Mercury flathead. Thanks anyway for the information, I feel like I wasted your time.

Thanks guys, for all the information. I more or less knew about the valve covers, but it was the transmission that bothered me. I'm on a bit of a budget and I'll see what I've got in my parts box.

Does anyone know what the "Custom V8" in the Revell '32 Ford 5 Window is?
I pretty much know it's a Hemi, but I need to know if it's a first generation Hemi or a second gen engine, because I am building a car inspired by the December 1955 Hot Rod cover car, and would prefer a period correct engine. Can someone help me on this?

  13. Merc49 added a post in a topic 1949 Chevrolet Grille

Thanks, guys. I'll see what I can do regarding the obtaining of the grille. My plans for the car are to paint the grille and wheels red, the car itself factory Monaco Blue, with a gray interior, and amber running lights. All these modifications were performed by my grandfather and great-uncle around 1954-1955 to my grandfather's first real car (his first, a 1948 Buick Roadmaster, he ran into the river). If all goes well, you'll see this conversion Under Glass.

    1949 Chevrolet Grille
    Hello,

This is my first post on the forum. My question is, does anyone make a resin 1949 Chevrolet grille to fit the AMT 1951 Chevrolet Fleetline? I am planning on replicating my grandfather's first car, and need the grille to make it complete.
