MCM Regular (3/6)

  1. Google TJs resin model, they carry one. I haven't seen it but a guy on another forum built one. I think it is mastered off of the diecast cars. I have heard of warping problems with some of his bodies, but might still be a good starting spot.
  2. Is that from the 41 Willys? Might work. I tried putting pics up of the WIP but for some reason the site is fighting me. The truck was posted under the title "Couple of older WIPs".
  3. I pulled out my AMT 53 Ford F100 that I started working on several years ago. I am going for a modern, pro touring look. I have been trying to fit a Prowler interior, but it is looking like it may be more work then it is worth. Any thoughts or pics of some other interior ideas for the truck?
  4. Thanks for the responses. Looking to do a fenderless hot rod and tend to like a lot of the 31 Ford's that I have seen 1:1. I saw Lyle Willits' 31 Ford he did from a Replicas and Miniatures body...sort of looked like a tweaked Revell 32 body to me: http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/lyles_model_cars/lyles_street_rod_models/4.html
  5. What are the body differences between a 31 and 32 Ford 5w coupe? I know the bottom of the 31 is flat and the door opening goes to the bottom. Other than that, I am not sure. Curious what else would need to be adjusted on the Revell 32 to make it look more like a 31.
  6. Do they tend to gloss up once wet and applied or will they need a clear coating?
  7. I opened my newly released Round2 Meyers Manx decals and noticed they have a very matte look to them unlike any other decals I have seen. Is this correct for the kit or did I get a dud?
  8. Great job. The 67 Chevelle is also one of my favorite 1:1s. It has been a while since I built either of the Revell 67s. Is that the kit interior tub? I don't remember the rear seat being separate...I thought it was molded in. The tub looks like the pro street tub.
  9. I have had this idea rattling around in my head for quite some time...taking a bunch of used up pieces that have been laying in the parts box and make something of them. The first pic shows the first starting pile of parts that have been used on a kit (paint and/or glue messes to deal with). Some scratch building has been necessary, especially with the interior of the cab. At this point, the only items that have not been used on a previous build are the door panels, the pedals, and the wheels/tires (not shown). Not looking for a great deal of detail or accuracy, just a fun build. Chassis is from the AMT 34 Ford Slammer, cab was from the AMT Bigfoot, bed I believe is from an AMT model T, engine seems to be one of the MEL engines, running gear from the Revell 32 Fords, dash is a 55 Chevy (smoothed over), and seats are of unknown origin. Enjoy.
  10. Curious if there are any rumors of Mobieus putting together a Herb Thomas version of their Hudson Hornet? What about quality after market decals?

    My 51

Very cool build J2. Watching Dr. Cranky videos has been making me think about some creative paint jobs...this just pushes me to want to try even more.
  12. Crazyjim...have you had any problems with the Duplicolor crazing?
  13. Bob, thanks for the tip (and great to see another CT guy). I called the NAPA in Bristol and Watertown, neither carry it now. Oh well, might either have to try going to Duplicolor or order it on Amazon.
  14. Looking to buy Plastikote sandable primer. I always found it to work best a couple years back before I took a break. I have checked Walmart, Advanced Auto, and the local parts store. I know I use to get it at one of those places...but none seem to carry it now. Does anyone know of a major chain based store that carries it?
