  1. PERSONALLY, I HAVE NOT BUILT ANY MILITARY KITS IN YEARS.....BUT I USED TO AS WELL....FIGURES, 1/35 AND 1/72 HO/OO AIRFIX, 1/72 AND 1/76 ARMOUR, 1/35 ARMOUR. EVEN SOME AURORA MONSTER AND TV RELATED KITS FOR A FRIEND AT ONE POINT,,,,BUT, CARS ARE AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE TOP INTEREST FOR ME....THOSE GOOD OL' MPC, AMT, JOHAN, ETC MUSCLE CARS, DRAG CARS, PICKUPS AND ALL , LIKE MICHAEL CORLEONE SAYS...' PULL ME BACK IN' EVERYTIME....HECK, I LOVE 1/64 DIECAST VEHICLES TOO, AND AM USUALLY TRIPPING OVER GUT LOADS OF THEM AROUND HERE AS WELL....ENJOY IT ALL, THAT'S MY ADVISE,,,IF YOU LIKE IT AND ENJOY IT, TRY IT ALL............ACE..😅
  2. ....SOME MPC EARLY PRO STOCKERS, MPC 75-77 VENTURA, 71-72 ROAD RUNNER, AMT 72 VENTURA,,,,,AND THE AMT 69 COBRA HARDTOP, YES, YOU KNOW THE ONE....THEY WOULD BE THE TOPS OF MY HIT PARADE.......the ACE....😂
  3. THANKS JIM, FOR NEWS I WAS EXPECTING TO HEAR....I HAVE EXHAUSTED ALL POSSIBLE LEADS UP AROUND HERE TO GET THE OLDER GOOD STUFF, SO MAYBE LEARNING THE SHARPIES TREATMENT MAY BE THE WAY NOW.....BEST, ACE...
  4. HI JIM, IF I MUST CHOOSE BETWEEN ULTRA FOIL AND JUST CHROME BMF, WHICH IS THE BETTER OF THEM OF COURSE BOTH BEING JUNK, AS EVERYONE SAYS....I WILL BE ALMOST OUT OF MY NEW IMPROVED SHEET SOON....THANKS, ACE
  5. ......SO MY NEXT QUESTION IS....IF JUST ULTRA BRIGHT AND JUST CHROME BMF ARE THE ONLY TYPES AROUND THESE DAYS, WHICH IS THE BETTER OF THE TWO HERE, BEING EVERYONE IS SAYING BOTH ARE BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH, IF I NEED TO GET SOME....THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR INPUT...ACE
  6. HI ROGER, LOOKS LIKE THE AMT AND NOT THE MPC....THE TRIM DETAIL IS VERY SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT ON THE CAB, AS I RECALL, AND, THE NEW KIT HAS THE BOWTIE BADGE AS A SEPARATE PIECE TO INSTALL, WHERE THE ORIGINAL HAD THE BADGE AS PART OF THE GRILLE SECTION...BTW, I ALSO SEE FROM SOME RECENT BUILDS OF THE NEW KIT, THE GRILLE/ BUMPER AREA SEEMS TO FIT LESS PERFECT THAN THE MPC....THE NEW CHASSIS IS IDENTICAL, BUT SPORTS DUAL EXHAUST WHERE THE ORIGINAL WAS SINGLE PIPE ONLY....ROGER, IF YOU CHECK YOUTUBE, THERE IS AN EXTENSIVE BUILDUP OF THE NEW KIT POSTED, AND IT WILL DISPLAY ALL YOU ARE WISHING TO KNOW....HOPE THIS HELPS.....REGARDLESS OF THE SHORTCOMINGS OF THIS KIT, I STILL LOVE IT...LOL.....BEST, ACE....😅
  7. EBAY ITEM NUMBER....174872333004.....MPC 72 CHEVELLE SS SLASHER KIT.....CAN BE BUILT STOCK, BUT YOU WILL NEED YOUR OWN STOCK WHEELS....NICE KIT, CURRENT BID 30 BUCKS....MUCH EASIER than a slice and dice on taking a 70 to a 71/72 car....much easier...hope this helps...Ace.....
  8. VERY, VERY SHARP....GREAT LITTLE TRUCK, AND LIGHTNING FAST BUILD..... ACE...😅
  9. ABSOLUTE KNOCKOUT......JUST AS GOOD AS IT GETS....LOVE IT, THANKS FOR SHARING, the ACE...☺️
  10. I HAVE , UNFORTUNATELY PURCHASED ONLINE FROM TIME TO TIME, A FEW RACING CHAMPION 1/64 PIECES THAT SUFFERED FROM THAT CRACKING PAINT PROBLEM....RIGHT IN THE CAN THEY GO, BECAUSE AS STATED HERE THERE IS NO FIX UNLESS A COMPLETE PAINT RESTORATION IS IN THE WORKS....CHEAPER TO JUST WAIT AND FIND A MINT ONE, I WOULD SAY.....ACE..
  11. I HAVE NEVER CONSIDERED ALL THESE MEASURING DETAILS, BUT WILL STICK WITH USING THE BMF I HAVE ON HAND....IF I START USING KITCHEN FOIL, IT WILL END UP THAT I WON'T HAVE WHAT'S NEEDED TO COOK DINNER...LOL.....the ACE...😂
  12. I HAVE LOTS OF EACH OF HOT WHEELS AND MB, AS WELL AS OTHER 1/64 VEHICLES, BUT YOUR COMMENT ABOUT ' LOST THERE WAY' STANDS SO TRUE....THE AMOUNT OF PURE JUNK ONE NOW SEE'S ON THE PEG'S IS SICKENING....YEARS BACK WHEN I SPOTTED THE FIRST HW TOILET SEAT I KNEW TROUBLE WAS BREWING...LOL...THEY ARE TARGETING CHILDREN I SUPPOSE, AND YOUR COMMENT ABOUT JDM...YAWN...IS ALSO FACT...HOT WHEELS HAVE HIT THAT MARKET HARD THE LAST FEW YEARS, AND I CAN TELL YOU HERE IN CANADA IT'S ABOUT ALL THEY ALL JUMP FOR....MATCHBOX AND MAISTO ALL THE WAY FOR THIS GUY.....the ACE...😄
  13. ALL I CAN ADD TO THIS VERY NEAT THREAD IS THAT I HAD THE 71 WEDGE BY MPC IN THE FALL OF 71, GRACED BY AN MPC 71 CAMARO PRO STOCKER, AND REGARDLESS OF ITS TANDEM SET UP, I JUST LOVED IT....AND STILL LOVE IT NOW, AS I HAVE BOUGHT 2 OF THE NEW ISSUES AND MAY GET MORE....ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING MPC KITS EVER, AND AFTER ALL THOSE YEARS FROM HAVING MY ORIGINAL, IT STILL GIVES ME THAT BUZZ .....THATS MY 2 CENTS....the ACE....😂
  14. I'LL BE SHORT AND SWEET....JUST OUTSTANDING, PERIOD.......the ACE...😉
  15. HUMIDITY WOULD BE THE ONLY THING I CAN THINK OF....I USE TAMIYA EVERYTHING FOR SPRAYS AND HAVE NOT SEEN THIS MYSELF.....ALL I CAN OFFER...ACE..

  17. I HAVE CHECKED UP AROUND MY AREA, AND MADE SOME EBAY INQUIRIES ABOUT GETTING ' NEW IMPROVED CHROME ' SOME WHERE, WITH NO POSITIVE RESULTS..... I PERSONALLY HAVE ENOUGH FOR 2, MAYBE 3 REGULAR BUILDS WITH SMALL SCRAPS LEFT OVER, BUT THATS IT....APPEARS THIS IS BECOMING A PROBLEM FOR MANY OF US......ALL THE NEWS THATS FIT TO PRINT....ACE...😒
  18. NICE PIECE, MICHELLE....GREAT COLOR FOR A 'CUDA....THANK YOU FOR SHARING...BEST, ACE..😅
  19. WOULD TAKE TOO LONG TO LIST, IF WE ARE TALKING A 60 YEAR SPAN,,,,BUT CURRENTLY THIS SECOND, ' GANGS OF LONDON' ON THE AMC NETWORK....IT'S A TRUE MIND BLOWER, IF THE ULTRA VIOLENT MODERN ERA BAD GUYS IS YOUR THING....BUT, IF YOU ARE SOMEONE WHO PREFERS THE MORE MAINSTREAM SO-CALLED DRAMA GARBAGE ON THE REGULAR CHANNELS DURING PRIME TIME, THEN THIS MAY BE WAY TOO MUCH FOR YOU....JUST SAYIN'................THE ACE...😉
  20. WOW, THAT'S NEAT FOR SURE, MICHELLE.....GREAT COLOR WITH THE CONTRASTING WHITE INTERIOR.....I HAVE 2 OF THE 69 GTX PRO STREET KITS AND AM LOOKING FORWARD TO DIVING INTO ONE SOON....YOUR GTX GIVES ME THE INSPIRATION.... KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK....BEST, ACE...😂

  23. LOST SOME OF YOUR SKILLS, HUH.....THATS A GOOD ONE, ROGER, THIS BUILD IS A TOUGH PROJECT RIGHT OFF THE HOP WITH , AS YOU FOUND OUT, TONS OF MAJOR WORK TO MOVE IT ALONG....TO SEE A NICE EXAMPLE BUILT IS THE TREAT OF MY SUNDAY, AS I HAVE ALWAYS LIKED THIS CAR ALONG WITH MOST M/P CARS OF THE ERA....ACTUALLY SAW THIS CAR AT DRAGWAY PARK, CAYUGA, OUR LOCAL STRIP A COUPLE OF TIMES...YOU CAN HEAR THAT SBC BUZZ TO INSANE RPM JUST BEFORE PAUL BLEVINS DROPS THE HAMMER.....LOVE IT....LOST YOUR SKILLS....THROW SOME OF THOSE LOST SKILLS MY WAY, I HAVEN'T GLUED 2 PARTS TOGETHER IN 5 YEARS......CONGRATS, ITS A KILLER.....BEST, ACE...😅
  24. JUST NOTICED THIS THREAD OF INFO IN THE LAST FEW MOMENTS....READ EVERY POSTING, AND AM TRULY CONCERNED. I HAVEN'T BEEN ACTIVE IN THE HOBBY THE LAST 3 YEARS OR SO, BUT IN CHECKING MY BMF STOCK, I HAVE ABOUT 2/3 OF AN OLDER SHEET THAT WORKED, AND STILL WORKS PERFECTLY, AND 1/4 OF A VERY OLD SHEET THAT, EVEN THOUGH CRACKED A BIT, STILL WORKS OK WITH A LITTLE TLC.........THIS NEWS IS ALL NEW TO ME, AND I WILL CHECK OUT THE STOCK AT MY LHS TOMORROW HERE IN ONTARIO, CANADA.....BACK IN THE DAY, I USED PACTRA SILVER BRUSH ENAMEL TO DO WINDOW TRIM AND LOTS OF OTHER BITS AND SUCH....MAY HAVE TO LOOK INTO THOSE OLD METHODS ONCE AGAIN.....THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR ALL THIS INFO, AS UNFORTUNATE AS IT SOUNDS.....HEY, LOOK AT THE BRIGHT SIDE....BUILD PRO STREET CARS, MOST HAVE ALL THE TRIM PAINTED ANYWAY, OR, JUST COLLECT PROMOS...LOL.....JUST KIDDING.....ACE....
  25. I live in an apartment, same one for years, and I paint on the balcony, weather and humidity permitting. Tamiya sprays are usually the order of the day, but for some flats I use basic Testors enamel for various parts.... I find Tamiya colors and their clear, pearl clear, and semi gloss are excellent, and have used them for ages... I am very 'old school' and after prepping bodies, I tape them on the underside to coat hangers, all bent to my liking, and then proceed with a couple of light, dust coats, waiting 5-8 minutes, then laying on a heavier coat, waiting another 5 minutes, to finish with 1 heavy coat, in close, but checking that too much paint will not cause a run. After that, I let the body or related parts dry for about 3 hours, then check for any dust or foreign particles, and if so, gently wet sanding them out, and then giving the car the usual 'tack rag' treatment, and then 2 coats of clear, one light coat, 2-3 minutes later another heavy coat to finish. I am unable to set up a booth in here, so my painting and building methods may seem a little behind the times, but I make do the best I can, and usually end up pretty happy....Everyone builds, paints, and works differently, there really is no answer, its all what works for you after lots of trial and hopefully, not too many errors...lol....Ace....☺️
