Steve has said many things over many years. I will not call him a liar. I will point to the results of all he has said. No pics of the car, no hints as to where it is, no rumors from anybody other than Steve about current status of car and other owner.
It turned up.

Great work on the body! I've got a resin version of this already chopped lurking somewhere in the "Hobby Room". I've also rat-holed away several Allison engines, probably enough to build this and the quad motored Fiat. I just can't see tying up that many of those engines in one model.

From what I have seen, the body/chassis pieces look to be thicker than the Piranha chassis tubes. If I ever did one of those, I'd probably extend the Piranha chassis at the back, and move the pivot point back to let the body lift up higher. Too, I'd probably want some sort of interior "tin" in the body, and maybe some other touches to make the thing more integrated overall.

The "Mr. Speed" was rereleased with the double blower set up, but I'm not sure as of when. Yours looks pretty cool with the bumper on the front though.

I just received the turbo VW motor in the mail today. It is incredible. The fit of the parts is great, they were really detailed especially the cylinder fins.
There was an email verifying my order, one for it being shipped, one for "out for delivery" and one last email verifying it was delivered. Automated I'm sure, but not a lot of companies follow through like this, especially with the aftermarket suppliers. I had posted a while back about Charles doing some "On demand" printing for me. I'm not sure of this process as his business seems to have taken off, but it might be something to consider if you're looking for a "one off" item. He patiently worked with the files I provided, gave me a price upfront and stuck with it, and maximized the layout to assure me the most items for my money. This was based on how he took the time to lay them out on the printing surface, and instead of just throwing out some random number he worked to print as many as would work reasonably. If you are on the fence about making any purchases from Texas 3D Customs, do it with confidence and the knowledge you won't be waiting months to receive your items and they will be worth the price. The free shipping that came with my order was a bonus also. You won't meet a nicer guy, and he is good at his craft.

I recently subscribed again to Model Cars Magazine. My first issue arrived today and it came in a poly bag to prevent torn covers from poor handling.
Thank you for doing this as my issues in the past arrived frequently showed up with ripped covers, and bent pages. I know the publisher was not responsible
for it being manhandled on it's way to my house, but I applaud them for taking this step. My Scale Auto magazines often came in the poly bags. I'm so hyped
to open my magazine and enjoy one devoted to my hobby in general, and want to thank everyone involved because not everyone is into trains which seems to be Kalmbach's
main priority. I still subscribe to Scale Modeler, but car's are not their main focus.- 1

I was just poking fun at the comment, it all good.
I knew that, especially since I didn't get shot when I forgot the correct "secret knock" sequence at the door! And you didn't lure me inside to be dinner for the labradoodles, or killer poodles depending on their mood.

Is this used in casting resin products? Just curious and wanted to share. I've purchased from them before. It's easy to sign up
and they ship a lot of the items for sale with Fed Ex, fairly reasonably priced. They take PayPal also.

Thanks for your feedback, it was nice to meet you and your wife, I am still curious who Eric is though.
You were a very gracious host allowing us into your home, and "pulling back the curtain" to see where the magic happens. It was mind blowing to see your shop, and looking at the inventory. I turned 65 today, that must be the reason. I must have had the "Erik" post from above in my mind, and couldn't remember your name or spell his correctly.
CHARLES, is an incredibly nice guy and talented craftsman. -
Charles did some "on demand" printing for me with some files I supplied to him. The work was incredible!
While it was not automotive, his fees were reasonable I felt, and he worked with me to assure the most "bang for my buck"
in fitting as many pieces on the print plate that would work out. While I was picking up my items he showed me some samples of his
motors, wheels, and tires. I was really impressed with the tires as they were pliable resin, and so much like rubber.
I picked up a blown Hemi because it never hurts to have one of this quality lying around just in case.
The photo was taken under a very harsh, bright light so what looks like blemishes are nothing but differences in the color
of how the resin cured.- 1

Huh?
The one that shows up under the text in my post (Model Builders' Warehouse 3D Printed Borrani Wire Wheels). Click on it. If for some reason you don't see it in my earlier post, here is a "plain" link to that thread: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/150587-model-builders-warehouse-3d-printed-borrani-wire-wheels/
It wasn't showing up for me. Or least I didn't think it was. I'm old and easily confused these days.
Thanks!

Dan, your effort looks pretty good. You might also look at the following thread for some inspiration: I bought some of Randy's 3D printed wheels and they were exquisite.
What is amazing about those 3D printed wheels is that the spokes are interlaced (front to back) just like the 1:1 wheels. This feature is not achievable in either photoetched or wire-laced wheels. But it is not as important in your motorcycle-type wheels where the spokes don't really cross front-to-back.
What thread?

I'd buy some of those for sure! Nice work.

I think so. It makes sense, given how similar the cars all all. A few different decal sheets and you've got multiple new releases. Hopefully the Turbosonic version will be reissued, too.

Great box art:
The AMT kit is the hardtop bodystyle, too, so while not a modern era kit, it does have quite a bit of nostalgia going for it, as Dave V mentioned above. This box art would be most welcome:
Casey, I've got a couple of the "Turbosonics" on the shelf. Both are complete except for the front tires in one, and the decals for both kits have seen better days. They're not to cool anyway. Do you think the turbo engine is still hanging around that the kit could be re-issued? Also do you have any thoughts if the AMT Studebaker rear engined funny car might ever come back? I always liked it, and have the parts to kit-bash one except for the body mounts. Thanks for all your insight into the hobby and contributions on here.

We exchanged emails earlier this year and he had been very ill and in the hospital. This was in early February and he stated he had been in the hospital since September of last year till then. Went in for surgery and caught COVID at the rehab facility. He said it hit him pretty hard and it would be a while till he got back in the shop. Well wishes for Chuck!

Thanks for the info. That's actually good news. I beleive the Husquivarna moto-cross and desert racer are the same.
Bummer they don't have the tires though. Not sure how important making tire molds will be on their list of priorities.

Did they say anything about the motocross kit?
This is what the reply was when I asked specifically about the Moto-Cross bikes in a seperate message.
"Hello-- we have 1 mold labeled Husqvarna-not sure if it is the Motocross or desert racer- but we don't have the tire mold-- not sure if we will get around to it anytime soon--when we do a test maybe next year, we will certainly post the pics- thanks"- 1

I didn't even ask them about those. They were really quick to reply, and I was sidetracked talking about the Parts Packs stuff coming along in time. I am really stoked about those!

Kinda - they’ll top out at around $50 on eBay sometimes, but more commonly they’re more in the $40 range, which means the sellers are probably making about the MSRP of what the new kits will be I’d imagine (after eBay / PayPal fees etc).
If you think you’ll EVER build them, probably not worth trying to flip them if you’ll end up replacing them with the ‘reissue’ later anyway…
I didn't really buy them to try and flip. I've bought a few models I thought that would work with and still have them. I really like the tire/wheel combo in the kit, and the engine options. I've really wanted to try and work the tire and fenders into a Fiat coupe build and see where that might go. I thought the Fiat would look cool with the front fenders mounted like the deuce coupes. All the gimmicky stuff about the "Rat Roaster" was a selling point for me.

Judging by the price that the original Rat Roaster kit commands on the secondary Market I would say they could have made another shipping container full of them and they probably would have sold.
Are they worth something? I had bought quite a few for the tires and wheels, but haven't done anything with them.

"Does anyone know if Atlantis acquired the tooling for the Revell 1/12 scale motocross kits? The kits were the Husquevarna, Yamaha, Suzuki dirtbikes."
I did notice he used an image of a 1/8 scale Yamaha, but I assumed he mistakenly grabbed the wrong image from the web, since he specifically asked about 1/12 scale Revell dirtbikes, and named all three. George can clear it up if he wants.
As for large scale Revell bikes, I don't think Atlantis got any of them. I think many (most?) are already in Europe, as Revell-AG (old company) seemed to reissue many of the large scale kits over the last few decades-- Drag Bike, '65 Vette, Jaguar XKE(?), trikes, etc.
The best thing to do is ask Atlantis if they have ___________ and see what they say.
I messaged them on Facebook about the Triumph, Harley, and Honda Drag Bikes. They replied really quickly, and unfortunately they believe Revell Germany has that tooling.

Check with Charles at Texas 3D Customs. He has a varied inventory and used to do "printing on demand" with files supplied by the buyer. He did this for me for some none automotive parts for my son's Warhammer models. He's on vacation currently and it is stated on his website. I have also purchased car components from him, and his work is top quality and his customer service is great.
