  1. I've seen that movie a bunch of times... I think a great dio would be.... I can't think of just one great one, there are soooo many choices for a dio on this one.... Looking forward to seeing this one done, I've was thinking of doing this same car about 10 years ago (if I was a ford guy) STEVE ALLEN
  2. Old school vs Older school They both turned out GREAT, can't wait to see the third one roll out of that building... STEVE ALLEN
  3. Skibum... I find that the best time to paint in when it's about 78-85 degrees outside, no clouds in the sky, and I paint around noon-1pm. When I start painting a car, I will put a coat of paint on, set it in the sun for 10 minutes, rotate it to the other side for 10 minutes, take it back to the garage and put another coat of paint on it and do the process over again. The first two coats will take about 45 minutes. After the final coat of paint, I will set them in the direct sun light again and then rotate the model about every 1/2 hour until about 6pm. Then I take it downstairs to cool down for two days before I touch the body and start working on it again. This technique has worked well. It's kinda like "Mother Nature's" own food dehydrater technique. STEVE ALLEN
  4. I, too, would like to see how this thing turned out.... GTMike400 last posted on Dec. 19, 2006 !!!! Anyone on here know what happened ?? How it turned out ?? Did he get an A+ on this project ?? STEVE ALLEN
  5. skibum.... I mostly use dupli-color rattle can paints also, but I like to put my freshly painted cars in the sun to help "bake" the paint on. This tends to make them a little more glossy and less flat in color, so I don't have to put a gloss coat on most of my models. Just makes it easier IMHO.... STEVE ALLEN
  6. For a "relatively" first two-tone paint job, it's not that bad from what I can see. I know it's hard to mask around corners (like the back there), but not bad at all. I like the color combo you picked out....can't wait to see the finished product... STEVE ALLEN
  7. On Monday, the HI is 50 degrees When I bought this house, I told my wife that I would like to put a spray booth in the basement under the steps where there is a "closet" surrounding the old water meter that isn't in use anymore. I'd like to cut the top 1/3 off of the front and put a board down to cover the hole. I'd drill an exhaust hole in the wall which will be under my deck and no one would see it. But, since it's also where the dirty laundry comes down into the basement, she thinks overspray will get on the dirty clothes So, until she moves out or we get a different house, I'm stuck painting in the garage P.S. My wife has already spent ENOUGH $$$$ on e-bay this past month alone.... so she don't need any more things.... STEVE ALLEN
  8. I don't own a respirator and have never used one.... MY wife won't let me paint inside the house, so I have to paint in the garage and then set the models in the sun to "bake" the paint on. That's why I try and get as much painted in the summer as I can. The weather is starting to turn colder up here in Minnesota, so today I went into the garage and put all of my paints in a box and took them down into my basement until next June Can't wait to see the 4-5 cars you have painted up..... STEVE ALLEN
  9. You do models too ?? I thought you just played on the computer allllll day long Just Kidding, I've been a fan of your work for years..... any plans on selling any of your stuff off (to help pay the utility bill) ?? STEVE ALLEN
  10. Last month, the weather was PERFECT for painting, so I took a bunch of my models that needed painting and painted them up.... The last pic is the models mocked up with the chassis and wheels on. To see more, check out my photobucket for individual pics in the WIP section. All of these were painted withing 2 weeks of each other and I have 3 others in primer STEVE ALLEN
  11. Keep up the great work.... It's looking great so far. I'm a fan of combo's like this one. I just might have to pick up this kit and throw my '33 Ford on the back. Can't wait to see this one finished !!!! STEVE ALLEN
  12. W O W Love the color and the two-tone interior, along with all that foil.... Is there anything that you DON'T like to build ?? You do great work and I enjoy seeing all of your work.... STEVE ALLEN
  13. Dave... That is a cool ride you got there I don't know what I did differently, but my ride height looks a little lower than yours. Thanks for the tip on the windows... George... Thanks for the compliment, it means alot coming from you I would take another dio for this firebird, BUT, my wife would have my hide and then hunt you down and take your hide too Glad you like what I've been doing lately... STEVE ALLEN
  14. Thanks Dave, this is a fun kit to build.... You got any pics of your Firebird you can share ?? STEVE ALLEN
  15. W O W That is a sharp looking truck, love the progress pics all the way thru the final pic. You do great work and your attention to detail is awsome.... STEVE ALLEN
  16. Welcome to the forum Jurgen That is one sweet Camaro that you put together. The stance is perfect and the engine detail is great. Don't worry about your English, we understand you just fine Can't wait to see more of your models.... STEVE ALLEN
  17. Here's the Summit Pro-Stock Firebird with Dupli-Color Purple/Green Flip-Flop Paint. Let me know what you think of this one... STEVE ALLEN
  18. Me, personnally, am not into lowriders. BUT, from the modeling aspect, those paint jobs and the graphics on those cars are WAY COOL You do very good work with those lowriders. I do like the first one, the elco, and the wagon for their paint and graphics.... do you make your own decals and paint over them or what ?? STEVE ALLEN
  19. Hi ratrasta... If you don't want to make your own posters, just pick up a "Hot Rod", "Car Craft", "Super Chevy" mag and flip thru the pages and you will find a bunch of advertisements that have pics of smaller cars on there that you can cut out and 3M spray glue them to your walls Here's an example from my garage that I had built. All of the pics came out of magazines and the women on the wall came from "Maxim" and "Stuff" mags. Hope this helps out... STEVE ALLEN
  20. My twin boyz have the Expedition XLT and the PT Cruiser that I have been eyeing for awhile now. I just might have to take those away from them now. I like what you have done with them.... was it hard to wire up the headlights to the on/off switch ?? STEVE ALLEN
  21. I took this one a few months ago with a picture taped to my wall and my model in front of it. I like this one because you can see two guys behind the car talking. STEVE ALLEN
  22. I would have to say "YES"... ART is in the eye of the beholder... If 10 people pick up the same model kit, you can get 10 different looking models, each one looking good in their own right We are painting with brushes, rattle cans, and air brushes, its just that our "canvas" is already made for us, we are just finishing it up to look better. People take "junk" and weld them together and call that ART.... STEVE ALLEN
  23. Looks like a nice little twist on an already nice looking car. Waiting until tonite to see the updates.... STEVE ALLEN
  24. Looks like a cool, fun project, I can't wait to see it when it's all done. Looks like your off to a good start anyway... STEVE ALLEN
  25. Here some pics of a local car show that I took my twin boyz to this past weekend. The boyz and I had a great time and the boyz even got to sit in several T-Buckets that were in the show Here's a link to all the pics (118)... Hope it works... http://s39.photobucket.com/albums/e172/scu...%2008/?start=72 STEVE ALLEN
