Paint Booths & Safe Ventilation?
Rudy2013 replied to Synister's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Hey guys thanks for the advice so with some mods I came up with this took the fan motor outa the box and mounted it through the back of the box so shld be no worries about fumes and sparks mixin from the motor when i turned it on I placed a piece of paper on the filter and it stuck to it like glue so should vent any fumes id say total cost 20 bucks for the ceiling fan assembly 6.99 for the plastic tub and 7.99 for the flex hose and 3 12 by 20 furnace filters for 4.50 may not be pretty but its functional lol once again thanks for the advice -
Paint Booths & Safe Ventilation?
Rudy2013 replied to Synister's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Hey guys I built a paint booth using a 50 l plastic storage tub and i used a bathroom ventilation ceiling fan purchased at Lowes mounted to the back of the plastic tub with a 3 inch flex hose out the window in front of the fan i placed an ordinary furnace filter the fan motor is in the air stream shld I be worried abt EXPLOSIONS here ??? I use acrylics and lacquers both I tryied it with some acrylic tamiya and it works just great only cost me 35 bucks to build.Any thoughts and advice will be welcomed. Rudy -

Need some help this one really baffles me I have the iwata cleaning station glass bottle plastic top I use mostly lacquer thinners to clean my air brush when Im done i put the cleaning station back in the plastic container that it came in untill the cleaning station bottle is about half full before i empty it out when i opened the outer bottle today I had to just about pry the lid off seems like it has shrunk and the cleaning station bottle lid seems to have expanded and it wont screw on the glass jar WTF ?? I thought thats what the outer bottle was for to keep in the fumes when your not using it do you suspose the lid will shrink back to its normal size if I leave it empty and opened up ??? any thoughts on this one guys ??

Rudy2013 replied to shift13's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yes the Pledge floor care stuff is what you want I got some here in Hamilton Ont shld be able to buy it anywhere in Canada and works like a charm -
Thought this was a nice kit to experiment with first time ive tryied to fogg together two colours I used Alclad pale gold over the gloss black base the header pipes were stripped of there chrome because it was in poor shape then re-painted with the Alclad chrome its close to matching the real chrome parts I took every ones advice on here and bought a decent air brush badger 105 glad I did also for the final coat i used Pledge floor care wax as ive also seen posted here topped of with a polish using Novus 1 really brings out the shine still have lots to learn and alot of pratice too be as good as you all but thats half the fun thanks for lookin and for all the tipps

This is my first attempt using Alclad The Candy red looks not bad but learned alot from the first try such as it runs very easily and had to strip the first coat off hahah I used Mothers Syn Wax to strip it only by accident that is, thought I might be able to polish out the run and low and behold it stripped the candy red off with the first rub even after it was dryed for a couple days and with a little elbow grease it also took the bright sliver base coat off too. Lots more practice needed to get it right but hey thats half the fun lol decals are a mix of left overs thanks for lookin

thought id give Alclad 2 a try the chrome paint for starters Im usuing an iwata neo air brush bottom feed and badger compressor no regulater so I think its pumpin out 30 psi sprayed my gloss black base coat first and had good luck with it goin on smooth so Ill wait a day for it to dry before i spray the chrome. My question is should I get a regulater to drop the air pressure to the 12 to 15 psi pressure they recomend ? and I asked my local hobby shop if I could use lacquer thinners they sell in the hardware stores for like 6 bucks for a huge bottle to clean the air brush and they say no it may wreck the air brush but of course they wanta sell you a a bottle of the alclad cleaner for 10 bucks plus its a pain to clean the paint bottle out afterwards so using the alclad cleaner would become very expensive so what do you guys think any help would be welcomed.

Not much flash but the doors dont fit good and the hinges were a joke in my opinion so just fit them as best I could and glued in place lots of extra parts to use for kit bashing engine drive line and suspension this is the third mini craft kit ive done and prob the last lol same issues with the others as well
-
Just another of the mini craft series painted with tamiya sky blue glued the back doors shut and filled them I think it looks better that way
