  1. Not much of an update but here we are with the exhaust most of the way done. I applied the base color yesterday and shot the black sections and colored the inside of the drilled out exhaust tips black this morning. I'm now waiting on the BMF to come in the mail to put the finishing touches on this. I painted the seats this morning and will tinker around with those a little more before posting pics of them. Here's the exhaust thus far:
  2. First off, that's a really cool kit and looks to be a good build! Secondly those GLHS were fairly quick back then. The rest of the car fell apart around the powertrain but that particular 2.2 litre was a force to be reckoned with back in the day. BTW does anybody have a pic of that Cavalier kit?
  3. Thanks Dan!!! I just ordered the BMF today. I forgot that the BMF I had was the matte aluminum stuff. Thanks Tom! I wanted to get more done today but wasn't moving around as well as I do most mornings. I'll probably have something more tomorrow buddy!!
  4. Thanks Lee! Well fellas there aint no progress pics for today. I managed to paint the exhaust the base color and will work on the black sections of the pipe tomorrow morning. I did get my chrome BMF on order today though!!!!! Other than that I just started on the drivers seat by finishing the seam removal and painting it up black. Maybe some pics tomorrow of some real progress........
  5. Thats a sharp build Niko! l like all that chrome trim!
  6. There are people here to help out with the paint stripping procedure as well Dave. Look and ask around and you'll find how to do that too. I haven't had to strip a coat of paint off a car build yet but believe me with the good folks here I could find out within an hours time how to do it. You'll be fine man. One thing that was also mentioned by Carl in the 8th reply here was to shoot some paint on a test subject before shooting the kit body you are working on. You'll avoid a ton of trouble and extra work that way.
  7. Jim: Thanks bud! With the amount of work you are soaking into that Vette build I thought that's all you did was spend time on it!! lol! I'm learning alot from watching builds like yours and other folks here! Mike: Thank you very much for the positive comments buddy!! I think the end is in sight!!
  8. Thanks Gene! I hope to start shooting some paint on the exhaust by in the morning.
  9. Why not go all the way with it no matter what? We're all here learning at different levels and you gotta start somewhere. Just make a deal with yourself to finish it no matter what happens and you've got the first step licked! I'm in on watching this WIP. Go for it dude!
  10. You know I never knew these models existed before I came to this site. They are very interesting and make a cool looking model when finished. Looks like you're doin this one good justice there Jason!
  11. Now that's a long time to own car!
  12. Whoa!!! How did I miss this???? Great work Rich!!!! Awesome look!!!
  13. Thanks Bill! I think you were the one that gave me the link to all the reference pics I have now (after the forum hack I lost that post but had already downloaded all the pics to my computer.....glad I did that!) and that's what it shows alright with the color of the exhaust. I may order some chrome BMF for those tips.
  14. Wow!!!! You never seem to fail in bringing out the best in a build Rich! Lookin' sharp!
  15. Got some work done on the exhaust this morning. At first glance of the pics you wouldn't think of it as anything out of the ordinary..... Todays work Now I'll hold up right there and let's take a look at the original exhaust that's laden with seam lines...................all over the place!!! A closer look at the exhaust tips and pipes.......... This was ALOT of cleanup folks!! Then there's the drilled out/ hollowed out exhaust tips............ That's gonna be a wrap for today. I think I've had enough. lol
  16. .............and roomy!!! I only dream of having that much room to work with!!! Nice builds too!
  17. Thanks you guys!! I'll be moving on to the exhaust first and then the interior for the next week or so. Looking forward to seeing that build Jeff. Where is it? Here's another shot of the body from a more lit angle:
  18. First things first I got my dang truck fixed!! 360,000 miles on the ol' 94 Silverado and still truckin' right along. I just loove me some throttle body fuel injection. No complexity, easy to work on and reliable. Anyways after I replaced virtually everything ignition wise(and believe me it needed it!!) it runs beautifully! Actually the problem was with the ignition rotor and cap and the rest was because I have neglected her. Now on to what really matters here. It's update time and man I'll tell you guys I'm happier than a tornado in a trailer park after the successful glossing of the T/A body. The weather has been garbage for the last three friggin' weeks, today is beautiful outside and I've been just waitin' for the opportunity to gloss this thing after I finished the corrections from the last gloss disaster over a month ago! I'll be moving on to the rest of the interior while I wait on the body to gas out. I'll just let the pic do the talkin' here: After she cures out I'll polish it up with the Novus , break out the BMF and paint all the detail up. This is the best gloss I've ever applied to a car body so I'm dang near on cloud 9 right now!!
  19. You sir, are da MAN!!! Beautiful and crisp detail!!! Holee smokes!!!!!
  20. Yep. All for the almighty dollar. This is heading to the off topic area so I'll say this and be done with it. Businesses these days have no loyalties but that. Figuratively speaking, if there were ever a "universal-Global dollar " it might as well be hung up on a post with whatever flag any country displays. It's really too bad but that's the way it is. I'm no economist and I don't know the answer to your questions but I almost cringe at what the answers are.
  21. Watched this one come together and it's just cool to look at the finished product and know where each piece of this thing originated from and how it was built. This build sets an example in imaginative building. I just don't know any other way of putting it. Great job Bobby and I'm really looking forward to the diorama!!
