We have the "old peoples"(has four letters in it's name) car and renters insurance and just got the bill for the next year and it went up 25%. Called and they claimed it was the uninsured drivers in our town that was the biggest reason. Trying to decide at this moment if we should look around or not. Richard

That is an awsome kit. What glue did you use to get it to come out so clean(if you don't mind me asking)? Richard

It's a model. Oh! Sorry, wrong game Richard

I have never known the correct answer yet but like to look every week knowing that " ONE DAY, ONE DAY " there will be a picture that I have the answer to. It is like my weekly humbling and a lot of fun.Richard

I told my wife to take the money she was to spend on me and use it to help starving children. She did. That is the best gift she could have given me." MERRY CHRISTMAS" and may God Bless. Richard

oldcars replied to clovis's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Pretty much the same story but mine started in the early fifties and was bought at a drugstore. Richard -
Hobby shops in Colorado Springs
oldcars replied to SFC_Allen's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Whenever I would go in and Karl was there my wife would always go next door to Poor Richards because she knew I wouldn't be out for awhile. Richard -
I am suddenly feeling old. I was there FIFTY years ago (1963&1964). You never forget what you saw, heard, smelled, and felt. Everything is different now but the race is still 24 hours. Richard

The Little Pages!
oldcars replied to mrknowetall's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Think of a regular car mag. as a laptop and the little pages as the ipad of the day. Richard -
After the last few post I'm not quite sure what to say, but here goes. 1.......I too grew up as an army brat and lived everywhere from Japan to France, where I graduated highschool in 1964(Made it to the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1963 and 1964). Fifty years ago this year(If I remember correctly ferrari took eight of the first ten places in 1963). You never forget the sound of the cars coming down the hill into the esses. 1964 was Dan's year. Oh yeah! 2.......Been married for 45 years and my loving wife still thinks my plastic habit is a fun thing for me. How great is that? Richard

I had a four track/eight track craig stereo in my 61 corvair monza that I had put in sometime in 1968. I miss it and the car to this day. Richard

A few years ago AMT came out with the 71 and 73 Mustang kits at the same time. I wanted the one with the rear window louvers. The box for 73 showed them while the 71 box didn't. I bought the 73. Yep! you guessed it. The kit that showed them didn't and the other kit did. I was just a little P.Oed. No, I didn't buy the other kit. Richard

I owned a 76 caprice back in the day and mine was a light metalic blue with a white vinyl interior. It had 400 c.i. under the hood. Richard -
What we do for our hobby...

I go to the jewelry section at different craft stores with my wife and find red beads that make great taillights. The women in the rows of beads just give me that look. Yeah, that look. Richard -
My mother worked at the last Kresge in the country until it closed(Kansas City, Mo.). Used to buy all my models back in the 60's there and at Katz Drugstores. I wonder how many of the younger(under 60) ones know that the "K" in K-Mart is the the "K" from Kresges. Just a little trivia. Thanks for the memories Porscheman. Richard

Welcome to the" best " site Josh. All of your models are really nice but the Mclaren is just plain super cool. It looks like it was a decal nightmare. Can't wait to see more. Richard

I have used the straight pins with the round head for years. The round head gives you a good hold while doing small detailing. Richard

Thanks Harold for both of your answers. Will be looking forward to a picture(if you find one). Richard
