  1. Engine Colors?

So I know that certasinc ompanies paint their engines with X color, and then sometime the truck manufacturers will paint them up differently, and some give you the option, or let you go custom. I remember a list a couple of weeks ago on here but can't find it. Diamond Reo should be Gold, right?
  2. 73/74 Roadrunner

Here is the DoH Daisy's Roadrunner. Obviously I didn't build it from the show. Decided to do it as a curbside with no engine. I would have it all together but I can't find where I put the dashboard. HAH. Once I do I just have to paint the headliner, and slap it together. Pretty much it's all out of the box except for the wheels and the brake discs I will be putting in. Wheels are from Pegasus. Color is testors customer laquer system, Plum Crazy Purple Metallic.
  3. What cool trucks (rigs or pick ups) have you seen lately?

Dead on, 51st just about a block off I10. I was right there at Travelers Inn. Price was right. Room 121, right up front. Shade in the later part of the day. That helped.
  4. What cool trucks (rigs or pick ups) have you seen lately?

This was sitting in the parking lot of CARLS JR next to the motel I'm in for CDL training. On the battery box it says Atlas Van Lines.
  5. Ok so it's just a shot of the STRETCHED chassis with the suspension and engine and battery boxes for now. I was doing the body in a metallic maroon, but the paint just was NOT behaving. So she's sitting in some purple power right now. Trying to think of what color to paint it, with what I have. I have like 4 shades of blue, Some red, Some yellow, the pink and the white are for a different project. Though I did set the can of pink paint on the chassis to give an idea of the stretch. I have some purple, both the plum crazy and some Krylon purple that looks nice. I was thinking the DARK blue that I'm using on the frame of my 289. I also have some Orange. Sublime green. Decisions decisions. I was thinking it'd be nice pulling the lowboy but there isn't hardly any clearance between the rear of the frame and the lowboy, and this is the Revell kit so the 5th wheel is non adjustable, I'll probably have it yanking the flat bed which is being built, probably with a beam or pipe load, and leave the lowboy for the 289. Anyway here it is.
  6. Stretched Revel W-900

Yeah I wish. I also build Aircraft and Armor, and I use acrylics through my airbrush so you can imagine how that goes.
  7. Peterbilt 377

Lookin good. Mine is still in progress too. I'm smoothing the cab and sleeper. Stretched the living daylights out of it too. Makes me want to pick it up and start working on it again, seeing this one. I can't advise on the wheel/tire thing however as I haven't gotten that far into mine. Want to make sure the bodywork and chassis workout before I tackle what could be used as parts for other rigs if the bodywork doesn't work out.
  8. Hah I bring them in the bedroom to hang and dry. I can't leave them outside they wouldn't last 5 minutes.
  9. My new little truckin buddy, arrived early!

Best way to get them in is don't start buying it all up for them. Let them watch and dream and tell them no for a couple of years and then for christmas, BOOM, and let it go from there. Worked like a charm on both of mine.
  10. On Page 3 was scratchbuilders stuff, so here this might help. https://www.dropbox.com/s/utsifpe38klg537/Scale%20Calculator%2001beta.zip?dl=0 It's a scale calculator for Windows. I created it, and it appears to work fine. If anyone notices anything with it let me know. I don't plan to ever charge for it, it's 100% free.
  11. I won't touch ebay anymore, they say I owe them 12 bucks, they owe me 150. I'll take them all the way to the top.
  12. My new little truckin buddy, arrived early!

Awesome. My oldest was a little early, and was a lightweight too. With 4.11 gears though he can really get lost.(Yeah shameless beverly hillbillies plug). This your first one?
  13. What cool trucks (rigs or pick ups) have you seen lately?

Those forklifts are kinda ugly I think but I'd probably do something similar if I had one so I'm not one to talk. HAH. That old Chevy though, beautiful.
  14. What Irked You Today?

Too many gun or ammo malfunctions today when I went shooting. GGGRRR
  15. To all veterans

I'd like to echo all of this. Some specific Mentions My mother, who spent her time in the USAF watching the radar scopes My cousin Dennis Boley, Currently NHRA Divisional tech inspector and Racecar driver, but Formerly Navy. My Grandfather 25 year Army Veteran. Passed on a few years ago, but he lived just long enough to see his first Great Grandchild(my oldest son), not for his second(my youngest son) My cousin Gail Davis, who died in Vietnam at LZ Xray, in IA DRANG. Think of the movie We Were Soldiers. He died day 2 of that hell. To every service member who gave all they had just one time.
  16. Lookin good man. I can't wait to get some truck money rolling in so I can get one of these. Have Keith Marks print me out some decals, with white on them and baby let it roll.

  18. What cool trucks (rigs or pick ups) have you seen lately?

I know right? It's a big Whiskey Tango Foxtrot moment. Well I've got my American and POW flags hanging up from my balcony for today, and am going to go out and go shooting today while it's still legal to do so, will be illegal in 60 days, unless it's your own. You can't even show your buddy the new gun you just bought anymore, it's illegal. Ok rant on that over. Have fun today fella's.
  19. Stretched Revel W-900

It's either Testors one coat or custom lacquer. sitting in brake fluid I mean I can scrub and scrub and scrub with the toothbrush(stiff bristle), and while you can see the brush turning a little red from it, it doesn't seem to do anything to the paint on the surface. I can only conclude that at this rate it would be 2-3 years soaking in this stuff. The paint just was not reacting well at all, which maybe it's a formulation issue in this batch. Might have something to do with it's difficulty in removal. I've never had any sort of an issue with any of this paint before. I'm at a loss on this one.
  20. Gator, it's Clayton who's doing this truck not I. Is all good I'm tired too.
  21. That is just horrible, making the rest of us look so bad. LOL. Seriously though that is awesome. They should be injection molding stuff liek that, that people want to see, not the same old subjects revisited. Moebius has taken a chance on the 18 wheeler stuff and has done well. Can't tell me AMT is hurting from reissuing that stuff either. Great job on it. I'd never be able to get the gooseneck straight or the curves to match from side to side. You going to use that big dozer as the load when it's done?
  22. I've not had a problem with humidity and clear. I live in Oregon(yes it does get hot here 113 degrees) it's also very humid, it is the pacific northwest afterall. There are any number of things that could affect it though. I'll have to start paying attention to techniques, I just learned without really paying attention to what I was doing different. I used to have the issues though. I doubt I'll have much time to do anything in Phoenix. I think it's pretty much wake up, get some grub go training, go get some grub go back to motel pass out. Repeat. I can put a face to the name I've just been too lazy to do so. I do some photography afterall. Although I wouldn't risk destroying my good camera by taking a picture of my mug. I'll put one up for my avatar here though. However I think every photo I have of what I look like now has a gun in it.
  23. What cool trucks (rigs or pick ups) have you seen lately?

Ok ok ok, so what is it with these concrete pumpers? I see one the other day called Putzmeister, and here tonight I see one called Schwing? Please tell me this is a huge joke. WOW. Sure is funny though. I almost wrecked my SUV when I saw putzmeister I was laughing so hard.
  24. Stretched Revel W-900

I think I'm going to have to take him up as the brake fluid doesn't seem to be doing anything to it either. Though I have narrowed the color choice. Krylon Shortcuts purple, or Chrysler Bright Sublime Green from back in the day, which would really make the thing POP!
