Somebody needs to release a '68. I have always preferred the '68 tailights over the '67. A transkit of some kind could work,but converting the 67 body to a 68 would be a lot of work. I am lucky to have inherited this and a few other gems from my brother!

I am considering using the 67 chassis, but if I recollect correctly, the fenderwells are molded to the body, and since I keep getting buried in modifications on too many projects, I am going to use the original chassis, I am just going to do a better job of detailing it. I have both the stock and custom front and rear bumpers. I hope I can save the paint. I am going to sand it and clear it. Any suggestions on what clear to use?

After many years I have decided to finish this project. A little history. My brother originally built this in the late sixties or early seventies, then handed it down to me. I painted it in blue and painted the entire interior gray. Many years later, I stripped it and primed it with Dupont Variprime, then layed down MCW Hugger orange lacquer. I had big plans to upgrade the chassis and engine with later stuff, but it never went anywhere. So I have decided to take astep back and finish it with the original chassis and a 427 out of the 67 SS427 kit. I think I need to clear over the lacquer. Any suggestions?

I remember my dad building one of these when I was a kid. It was one of the few models he ever built. he did a good job and actually finished it off nicely.

Not many people like the "bullnose" 72-up Commandos Dave!
I've talked to Alan about doing the front clip of the 67-71 Jeepster, as the bodies are the same from the cowl back, except for the tailgate.
Now to find a salvage body so I don't have to harvest the front fenders from mine...
If they would repop the hood you can use cj fenders to convert the "bullnose" version. The second one in from the front is one I converted that way. -

Check out www.modelhaus.com They make a 57 F-100 and a 57 Mercury pickup also. The 57 Ford is availble as a conversion kit for the AMT 53 Ford f-100 or it can be purchased as a full kit. The Mercury pickup is also a full kit. These kits are resin and the quality of Modelhaus kits is excellent.

There have been several 1960 fords on ebay recently that sold for decent prices so keep an eye there. Of course modelhaus has parts that may be missing too. I also bought a 1960 ford panel truck from F&F years ago.but I dont know if they are still around.

This is only the tip of a the iceberg. In spite of all our new teen driving laws, kids are not getting the message. Here in Simsbury, we have had several accidents involving teenagers . As a lineman for the power company, I am often on the scene when they hit utility poles. Just two weeks ago, an eighteen year old driving his girlfriends fathers' pickup lost control and smashed through two poles, Fortunately no one was seriously injured. Last year a fourteen year old and some friends "borrowed" a nieghbors car and ended up smashing into a pole. Serious injuries occured to the rear seat passenger. Please take a moment to talk to your kids,check on the kids who are driving, and consider not letting them drive with other kids who can and will distract them. Consider this, the younger brother of the driver in the first accident I mentioned was in an accident last weekend. He went to pick up some friends who had too much to drink. Responsible.right? 5 teenagers in a celica,three drunk,one really rowdy, caused him to miss a red light. Car totaled, one concussion, one broken wrist.These are my sons' classmates and it is scary to arrive on an accident scene thinking that this could have been my son. Our thoughts are with the families of those killed,and lets all work hard at preventing this from happening again.

I did one using micro mark resin. I used legos to make the mold box and clay and masking tape to block off the body openings. It came out good. Just take time to think about where the silicone is going to go. try taking apart a hot wheels car and doing a small one first. The micro mark resin worked great,very nice with no bubbles or anything.

Junkman,tell me about that chrome bike please. We have a great bike path near our house and when I ride with my daugher or wife I want a cool cruiser. I have a Specialized Roubaix for serious riding but I like the looks of these old bikes.

This is awesome. When my son was newborn I bought a lot of matchbox hotwheels etc in advance and I remember being quite excited to find the Wagoneer and FJ. I just found them yesterday in a box of old toys and now I can see that I have to do something with them.

I collect old matchboxes and any hotwheel that catches my eye. I usually have some intent of making resin copies to turn into slot cars. I also enjoy restoring them as mini modeling projects. I love finding an old matchbox at a tag sale that i wished I had when I was a kid and bringing it back to new.
