  1. Thank you Bob for the encouraging words. I agree I see things I would like to have done differently....But I want to get the first one done....There are many more models in my future. Im sure in yours as well.
  2. It would be fun to go to a model show...There was one in Portland last weekend.
  3. Very cool....Is there a model building club in Medford?
  4. Dale - Very true....I need to keep in mind...At the end of the day its a model. But I do want to learn to make a clean builds....I need to be patient. JB - Ive got it glued back together...If it breaks I will take your advice on drilling out the pieces, an putting a piece of wire to hold the pieces together. Thank you for the advice
  5. WOW, There are a lot of AMAZINGLY talented people on this forum.
  6. Mike I completely agree. Thanks again.
  7. Thank you Mike for the tip...I will try that. To say Im learning is an understatement.....This hobby has progressed farther than I ever imagined it when I was a kid. There are so many amazing builders....I bought my first 2 models right after Christmas, after stumbling across Dr Cranky videos on YouTube.
  8. Thank you for the comment. I want to learn and improve.
  9. Well I finally have the engine fully assembled. It took me a little over a week. I need to touch up the headers. The Wash I used consisted of dipping the brush in MM semi gloss black paint and then dipping brush into thinner and applying. Parts of it are a little dark, but Im pretty happy with the effect I got. I tried hitting the blower belt with a little bit of sandpaper to knock of some the shine....It didnt work like I had hoped. I have a lot to learn. One other question, how do you guys do 24 or 48 hour builds? It took me over a week just to get the engine together.
  10. I hope this isnt a dumb question....When you all recommend a particular model would it be helpful to post a picture of the box so us newbies no what to go get? Or in this case when you say AMT 55 chevy, does that mean ANY AMT 55 Chevy? Thanks
  11. Thank you Casey I will check it out.....Im very frustrated with this piece of junk street machine 55.
  12. It must be my lucky day....I found the broken piece of the leafspring....Now to get it glued back on.
  13. Thank you Ace for the advice and encouragement.
  14. Im working on my first model in 35 years. Its the Revell 55 Chevy Street Burner. Im amazed at how many of the parts do not fit like they should. I was sanding some flashing off one of the front leaf springs and the shackle snapped clean off and I have been unable to find it. Since Im just getting started I dont have 10-20 other kits that I can snag parts from to replace the leaf spring. I noticed the under side of the model I missed sanding that needed to be done after I painted it! UGH! Im thinking I will just press on.....Finish the model and try to NOT make the same mistakes on the next one. What do you all think?
  15. I did not realize how bad my eyes were until I started working on models. So I picked up an LED task lamp.
  16. Here is a couple update pics on the 55. I primed the body and the interior. I painted the interior semi gloss black with SEM automotive paint. The body is primed with Plastikoat. I got a little frustrated when sanding one of the front leaf springs...the shackle on one of the springs snapped off...Who knows where it went. Im going to finish this the best way I can.
  17. I am seeing its not the best kit..One of the front end pieces didnt fit all that well. But it was the only 55 chevy my hobby shop had in stock.
  18. Yes its glued together....The interior Im going to paint black.I should have held off on gluing in the seats. Im going to paint the body red. But its only 32 degrees outside.
  19. I just wanted to post some progress pics of my first build. Right now my focus is on NOT making a glue bomb. I made the 2 down bars for the roll bar because I didnt like how the original bar cut right over the passenger seat. There was probably a better way to make the joints on the bars, but right now I have limited modeling tools so I had to improvise. I also put a black wash on the grill and the wheels. Im going to paint the interior flat black, and paint the inserts in the seats white or red havent decided yet. The cars body color is going to be model master Guards Red. Let me know what you guys think, again please keep in mind this is my first model in a VERY long time. Thanks
  20. My Camaro is an SS clone. It has 396 emblems but the motor is a .060 over 454. It has Canfield aluminum heads, Comp cams .728 solid roller cam. Dart intake, Holley 950 HP carb. It has a turbo 400 with reverse manual valve body and a Hughes 4500 stall converter. THe rear is a 9" Ford with a spool and 3.50 gear. I love drag racing and going to car shows and cruises. Thant is WAY FAST! Im hoping to get a mid 10 pass at Medford cruise this year. Making some changes this winter so we will see.
  21. I have seen that Vega out there. It is fast!
  22. I didnt know that. I may try to come up for it. Thank you for the nice compliment. I love it...Lots of fun.
