  1. so sweet!!! I think I'm going to have to look at building something like this!
  2. Awesome..... I was looking at some old Popular Hot Rodding mags from the late 60's and was looking at the Turbonique ads thinking how cool it would be to build something similar. Nice work!
  3. Small update...... just been cleaning up the chassis of its flash, lettering and ejector remnants but managed to scratch a trans crossmember and basic motor mounts. I'll go back and try to add a little detail the mounts later, but for now, it gets the '69 Nova 427/4 speed combo mounted in the chassis where I want it. Next up is getting the suspension mounted.
  4. The last pic of the P/U is awesome, nice builds!
  5. Thanks Tom! To be honest though, I never did models as kid. I did some modeling in my mid-20's (I'm 45 now), collected several kits but only finished two. This car is only the third one I've ever finished and the second one I've wired the engine on! A little background on me...... I've been a fan of real cars since I was about 12-13. My first car was a '66 Nova 2 door hardtop that I rebuilt the engine myself on and drove in high school. I used to draw cars alot and was pretty good at it. I got into r/c off road racing when I was 21 and got real good at it, good enough to pick up sponsorships to help with my addiction, LOL. I've built real custom cars for years doing all the welding, fabrication and paint work. I just seem to have the ability to pick up on something that I interests me. Modeling interests me because I can build cars that I may otherwise never get to own. Its fun to apply my real world ideas and skills to the plastic fantastic. Having a blast and am honored to hear all the compliments of my work, especially coming from guys on here that have some serious skill! Thank you all!
  6. Thanks!! Yes, wheels and rear tires were from Speed City. The front axle does come in the Roth kit.
  7. Looks nice, cant wait to see more
  8. I vote for the twin turbo set up as well.... there's plenty of online images of setups that you should be able to put one together that would look great! I know there are some US based companies that offer resin turbos and intercooler sets. Here's a pic of a friend of mines 1:1 '61 Impala Pro Touring car that has a 2000+ horsepower twin turbo Moran Racing engine in it..... This will be similar to how I'm going to do my version of a 1;25 ProTouring '69 Nova.

    Looks clean. Nice work
  10. Here's a few photos showing how I modded the stock straight axle.... added some parts box disc brakes that I'll de-chrome, modded the end of the axle to work with the Speed City front wheels and widen the track width slightly. Then the fun part, making the ends of the leaf springs look at least a little like they should. Now to make some hangers and shackles, and mod the tierods to look like it could actually steer. Hope you like the updates! Thanks for looking! I appreciate the comments and feedback.
  11. Couple of small updates, nothing major. Got my resin wheels, Hilborn injection system, tires and valve covers from Speed City today. Got started assembling the 427/manual trans from the Revell Yenko '69 Nova and mocked up the suspension once again withe correct wheel/tire combo to get a good look at where I'm headed. I like it! The straight axle that comes in Ed Roth '57 is pretty basic and lacking in details, so I've started doing some work on it to give it some more realism without getting too crazy and scratch building everything.
  12. Thank you sir! I've got some ideas I want to add give it some realism. Not looking to do an exact copy of the real thing, just get it to look "right". As mentioned the firewall door jamb area is looking real good, you got my vote for the right turn.Great start on this one! Thanks, but I think I'm ditching the wipers all together and just going to have "standoffs" where they would be.
  13. Roll bar and backseat delete are already on the list! The axle actually comes in the kit! It leaves a little to be desired so I may have to find something else or do some scratch mods to it. Firewall is getting smoothed out as well. Just needs a good sanding to get rid of some molded details. Thanks for the input!
