What do the wheels look like? Post up a pic please.
This is the wheels in the Galaxie,,
and this is the Nova

Could be '70/'80s issue AMT '40 Ford coupe and Sedan Delivery or '57 Chevy. Both kits had KKs like that.

This one screams "Beaumont".

When I met my wife about 32 years ago. [Wait, that can't be right, can it?? 😲] Her brother Mike had a '69 GTX.
This a replica I built of the car as a Christmas present for him as it was when he owned it. Sadly he passed a couple years ago but his daughter still has the model on a shelf in a case.
This was built about 25 years ago so be nice. There's a lot of things I would have done differently now to correct some of the shortcomings of the kit.

I think it looks good Ron.
My brother in law actually had a '69 GTX when the wife and I met so I'm pretty familiar with the cars and all the glaring mistakes MPC/AMT made on the kit [including that horn mistake on the instructions].
BUT, it does build up pretty well and you did a great job with it.

Are you on the path Brian?
This will be my third total. I'm old enough to remember the one in the Carly Simon song ,, but just barely.

That's just fantastic. 👍👍👍

Pics online show that the 360 and 400 look very similar in outward appearance. Other than the Odd, Chrome Air Cleaner in the kit, the engine is generic enough to pass for just about any MOPAR Non-Hemi V-8 of the Early to Late 1970's.
I disagree.
The layout of the engine in the kit and the shape of the valve covers could only be a "B" or "RB" engine with it's distributor on the front. [383, 400, 440, etc.]
A small block Mopar like a 318, 340 and 360 are "LA" engines with the distributor on the back and look quite a bit different then the kit engine. In fact, they look a lot like a small block Chevy on a quick glance.

Thanks Carl.. That kit originated as the Royal Knight ('78) then issued as the Branding Iron ('81) then the Red light Bandit ('81) and finally as the Monster El Camino truck ('85) There was a few promos that where issued in between those kits. All per scalemates info. I've been hunting the ref light Bandit for sometime, there's one on eBay as a buy now for an arm and leg..
Scalemates info is incomplete.
MPC issues Elcamino annuals every year from '78 through '82. An'80 GMC Caballero "El Diablo" was issued as well.
It is a bit difficult to keep track of the MPC annuals in this era as they stopped putting the year on the kit and instead named them ["Night Moves" "Branding Iron" "Red Light Bandit"] in an attempt to keep the kits from being viewed as "last years" kit.
Plus of corse, the "86 SS" update that was done in the early '90s

Yes Sir…California Wheels version. The PO must have thrown the wheels in there? The only ‘66 Nova I have is the AMT Resto Rods version, and it only had the one set of wheels and tires I believe.
Yup. Here's a page from the AMT Nova's instruction sheet. Note the part # on the Cragars.

Thanks Mark. This Z-16 kit does not show any on the box or in the instructions, but these were in the box? Yes the door handles are nice…I think I will make a mold of those.🙂
Thanks Keith, I don’t have any chevelle wagon kit, so the PO must have thrown them in.
I bet you have the California Wheels reissue of the Elcamino, right?
It has the wheels thrown in that originally came in the wagon,, along with a few other parts that are on the tree with them. SO, it actually has a total of 6 door handles in the kit.
I'd say those Cragars are from the AMT stock '66 Nova.

Love it, beautiful build. 👍

I checked an AMT 49 Mercury kit in my stash and they are in there. Even have the Weiand logo. Not sure what Mopar engine is in the kit, but the valve covers are there
IIRC, it's supposed to be a 426 wedge. It was the current hot engine when the kit was first done back in the early '60s.

Because spending over $300 for a plastic model is pure insanity.
For the record, I *do* have an MPC '87 reissue. It's unbuilt, sealed in plastic and I don't want to touch it. If I spend hundreds of dollars on a plastic model, I want perfection. And I'm not a perfect modeler. Now, if they reissue one, then I've got nothing to lose. I'll build it and a bunch more until I get my modeling chops back.
I agree, over 300 bucks is insane for an old Plymouth annual re-release. I'd never pay that either.
Good thing they don't really go for that. There's 3 unbuilt on e-bay now. two are about $120 and the third is about $80.
You could buy about 3 current kits or one of those. I guess it all depends on how bad you really want it, right. 😉
I will tell you a secret though, there's very few modellers who can build perfection. I've been doing this for about 50 years now and I know I sure can't do it.
Don't worry about perfection or pining for a reissue that might never happen. Get what you want and built it while you can because you never know what might happen in the future.🙂

And yet another year goes by.... *sigh* 😞
So, why not just bite the bullet and buy one of E-bay or somewhere?

Did the original ones attach on the outside of the window or where they molded into the rear window?
molded in clear and replaced the window.

Sitting in Easy Off for the last week didn't do much to take the first coat of dark blue off it so I thought I'd try rubbing alcohol.
Started rubbing with paper towel wetted with 99% isopropyl alcohol and it rubbed right off. No idea what it was though. Must have been some kind of craft paint.Anyway, turns out the parts are in better shape then I expected with just minor glue rash in a couple spots.
I have a kinda glue bomb version of the cabriolet that doesn't have the wells for the spare tires in the fender unit, just a couple small holes for exhaust pipes to go through. I'm gonna use that. I really don't want the fender mount spares on this build.

Doesn't matter if they came in a model box or 3-D printer.

The valve covers on my charger are from a kit but I've no idea what kit.
They look like the ones in the AMT '49 Mercury kits to me.

The wheels Andy is looking for are ONLY in these two kits, no other versions of them.
