Hood now given the BMF treatment. I’m pretty happy with this, especially given my general unfamiliarity with the stuff. Still not quite as nice as I had hoped, but acceptable at least. Thoughts, comments?

All three bumpers now spritzed with Alclad chrome again. One of the front bumpers is a tad better than the other, so I'll use the less nice one on this model.

Looks like the main body might just be salvageable after all. I'll keep plugging away and see where it goes.

A closer look at that photo above, seems to indicate that the same scribing was done around the wheel opening arch, and perhaps the door lines themselves.

Now I have a somewhat bigger issue, the damage (apparently from a botched attempt at scribing) extends all the way around the driver side area of the body. I've now added fine surfacer around this area and will attempt to sand out. Wish me luck.

Admittedly not much of an update, but tonight I added the round tubes/bars at front and rear of chassis.

One of several painting experiments I've conducted, has been the painting of wooden display bases in different colors. This is way more "sparkly" than it appears in the photo, and may well be used when I do a solid black car, which I will probably eventually do.

Thanks a bunch, I'm quite happy myself. The saran wrap will just be to protect the black on the hood from scratches and dings while I add the BMF.

Finally! I now have a winner. I still had some "issues", but I eventually prevailed, and it's about time. I'll cover the majority of this with saran wrap prior to adding the BMF. I'll let it dry for a day or so first though.

While I was already spraying something else semi-gloss clear, I went ahead and sprayed the seats and dash.

These gouges were on the body when I opened the kit. Looks like I have some puttying/sanding in my future.

I went to the local MMVA show today, and grabbed a few photos of the stuff that most interested me.

From the show today. The Willys is missing some parts, but has two bodies, so I'm not complaining, as I intend to grab another '41 anyway for a gasser that I hope to soon begin.

This just landed today. Tomorrow is a local model car event, so I'm hoping to score a couple of goodies there too.

Hood assembly now complete, all right angles broken and buffed; ready for primer. I also fairly heavily reinforced the interior, to help withstand the rigors of polishing.

Another hood painting attempt, and another miserable failure. Back to the oven cleaner for this bad boy.

Thanks, I like them too, though I would have preferred my Floquil earth for the lighter color, which, at least for now, has gone missing.

I like it a lot. Can't say I'm too wild about the way it sprays from the can though.

All major suspension components now glued to chassis, save one, which I've apparently already lost, but wasn't going to be visible anyway (thank goodness). Round rods at front and rear will be replaced with Plastruct items.

Chrome terrifies me, and this car has a lot.

Thanks a bunch, David. I agree, it is saveable. I've been plugging away with tiny sanding sticks and whatnot, and it's looking way better.
