  1. MeatMan, and I have put my initials on the batch tags of many reels, signifying I inspected them.
  2. This is a Tamiya 1966 Volkswagen Beetle that I have modified the rims, and tires and added a 3D printed speaker box in the back.
  3. About 5 years ago I went to work for a company that makes plastic conduits for running underground fiber optics and power lines through. The conduit is placed on large steel reels during the manufacturing process. I saw these trucks and figured they would make an excellent subject matter. I picked myself up a Revell Kenworth W900 and an AMT Great Dane Flat Bed Extendable Trailer. I made the trailer so it would not extend and painted the semi the same color blue as the company. I used my wife's Cricut and some white decal paper for the company name on the side of the truck. The reels of conduit are what took me the longest to make. I tried making them from scratch out of styrene strips, but that failed as soon as I tried to wind some wire on them for the conduit. This all changed when I got a resin 3D printer. I designed and printed the reel flanges, reel staves, and even the conduit on the reels. Altogether the trailer and the 10 reels weigh a whopping 2.5 pounds. I found a file online for the load binders and with a little modification, 3D printed those as well. It took about 4.5 years to complete, but I finally got it done a couple of weeks ago.
  4. This topic is useful. I have seven (7) Olie's stores within driving distance from my home. The closest being 10-15 minutes away, and the farthest being 1.5 hour drive away. Most of the time I only tend to check the store closest to me. What I believe would help this topic thrive is if people would put more information in their replies. I try to put in the following to help others out: What the store had to offer: A rough guess as to the amount the store had: Telling me they had some does not encurage me to drive 1.5 hours away to find they only had 2 of that kit and both sold out. Location of the store, including city/state: For example telling everyone the Washington store has pallets of a certain kit is not helpful since there are 88 cities in the US that are named Washington. Just some ideas, thanks Peter
  5. Thank you everyone for your comments. David I am waiting to get the trailer on it before I put the hook up on.
  6. I do not want to say this was an easy build. It had it's moments when stuff did not want to fit correct. I used the flame decals from an old t-bucket kit I had laying around. I also created a custom exhaust.
  7. I saw this advertisement this morning. Hope there is a better selection this time around, because the last one was not worth the 10 minute drive to my local Ollie's. Going after work this afternoon, will report back.
  8. I picked this kit up at an estate sale a while back and decided to put it together. I had plans of doing the car in a dark red exterior with a black interior, however when I put the first layer of primer down I liked the black and decided to go black on black. The plating had come off of one of the bumpers pretty bad, so while deciding what to do with that i was looking at the body partially assembled I thought with a bit of modifications I could make it look just like my 1:1 2018 Dodge Challenger. I went to work removing the things below the front bumper to make it a bit smoother. I left the rear chrome bumper off and added a wired distributor. The rims went through 4-5 modifications will I finally settled on the extra ones that came out of the custom 32 Ford Vicky I recently did (Link). Sorry about the lint in some of the pictures, did not notice till I was editing them for this post and it is raining outside, so taking new ones was not possible.
  9. Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments. This build went together real nice and I loved the kit.
  10. Good question. That was one of the only issues I had with the model. The stock exhaust did not line up and left little room for modification. I just left it the way you see it, imagining that you take the covers off the ends before you fire the engine up
  11. Thanks, everyone. I appreciate all the positive comments.
  12. This was a simple kit that I found at Hobby Lobby and decided to pick it up. Added a couple of extra features, but pretty much it's straight out of the box.
  13. I started with a 1932 Ford Victoria. Used the custom plans and pretty much built it to stock. I painted it with Vallejo Model Air Red. The interior is Vallejo Model Air Blue. I used the left over decals from the Revell Kenworth W900.
  14. This is one sweet build. Wish I had something like this in real life ?
  15. @Slimguy Thank you, I did make the diorama also. It was a quick thought I had one day and took about a week to complete. Most of the time was letting the drywall mud dry so I could work with it.
  16. Bucky: The red is a Krylon shimmer metallic candy apple The blue is a Rust-Oleum cobalt blue metallic. It all has two coats of Krylon flat white as an undercoat and each color has been laid on twice. To top it off both colors have two coats Krylon gloss crystal clear to finish them off.
  17. I found this 1938 Ford Custom Van from Lindburg a while back...I think at an Ollies. The kit is almost 100% box stock with the exception of the door handles, they came from the spare part box. Took her to the car show...
  18. Stopped by the Olies in North Olmstead, OH. again yesterday afternoon. Still NOT worth the time. They have moved the display of Lindburg boats and skeletal foot models from the end cap to the isle shelf spread amongst the rest of the toys. I wish the Olies near me had more of the cars and trucks others are finding.
  19. Went to both the Olies in North Olmstead and Parma Ohio. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!! Both stores ONLY had a small amount (6 or less) of 2 Lindburg ship kits.
  20. I found this on thingverse. I have not built it and tried it myself, but I have seen it in action. Kind of nifty. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2117162
