Those crosses on the wings and mid-fuselage are Balkenkreuz; "Beam Cross", which the Germany military still use (known as an "Iron Cross" now) . It is not a swastika. Swastikas can cause you issues if displayed in Germany; historical accuracy or not. Military and aircraft modelers can be just as immature as many car modelers are being with this whole Dukes of Hazard thing now. Though I've yet to see anyone "threaten" legal action in millitary modelling (see the original, locked DoH thread). Personally I'm tired of seeing all this DoH garbage, for or against the show, the General Lee, or other merchandise. I didn't grow up in the early and mid eighties so I'm not nostalgic but can see how others might be. One thing I have noticed, that EVERONE seems to have failed to notice is that prior to June 17th there was little mention of the show, the Confederate battle flag or The General Lee (on this site or in scale modelling). But now that anything associated with it has become faux pas many are taking a high stance and trying to defend anything DoH in a way a parent would defend their child. Tooth and nail. However, the truth seems to be that mom and dad are taken away a toy that you've LONG stopped playing with and now your having a fit. EDIT: Something I had forgotten to write; we are talking about a defunct flag from a country that hasn't existed for one-hundred and fifty years, aren't we?

Dissapointed that I missed this when it was first posted. Really cool build of a pretty unique car. Well done.

Truck Kits You've Scored Recently

Just 'won' an auction on Ebay for this; http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/131364999009?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_ref=http%253A%252F%252Frover.ebay.com%252Frover%252F1%252F711-117182-37290-0%252F2%253Fmtid%253D1588%2526kwid%253D1%2526crlp%253D53601919689_324272%2526itemid%253D131364999009%2526targetid%253D74194842667%2526rpc%253D0.15%2526rpc_upld_id%253D51870%2526rlsatarget%253D%2526device%253Dt%2526mpre%253Dhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.ebay.com%25252Fitm%25252Flike%25252F131364999009%25253Flpid%25253D82%252526chn%25253Dps%2526adtype%253Dpla%2526gclid%253DCj0KEQjwoIitBRDTgeiZq93F2LQBEiQAMfXL0WV1kOmvylWFCWS4_DFurWmviUGJ9Yl35p7J2vS6pLoaAj6c8P8HAQ%2526srcrot%253D711-117182-37290-0%2526rvr_id%253D865481053835 Is it really winning if your the only one bidding? 30$ plus another 10$ for ahipping, quite happy. -
Scania R730 Heavy Hauler
Relic_Models replied to Superpeterbilt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The box is usually a steel frame that holds extra air tanks and tools; probably an APU (auxillary power unit) or fuel tanks, too. The R730 has a different front end from other trucks (I think Italeri offer an R560) but the single drive R730 should work if you can get a hold of more fenders and axles. -
Good automotive references

Looks like it could be a great reference; thanks for the link, Walter. -

Saw a Freightliner FLD, only a two axle, with six open-sided ballest containers partially loaded. Ballast as best as I could tell was 1000-something(didn't see lb. or kg.) cast metal units. No draw bar, signage or supporting/ associated trucks around. I was driving to work so no photo though. Hugely disappointed considering it's such an odd set up.

I want to swap the 283 from Revell's '58 Vette for something with a bit more power. I figure less than 300hp isn't particularly impressive for a currently used 'weekend racer' but after a quick look online it seems all the current Corvettes and Camaros lack full engines. Any particular suggestions for a donor of an LT1, LT4, or similar? Even a resin engine kit would be nice. Thanks guys.

Casting; 1 piece or 2 piece?
Relic_Models replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
As Mark said, these parts are directional; casting them would be a waste of resin. If you were casting this part, and it didn't matter that it was a thick part, you could get away with a one-piece cast but it might not clear body work or frame sections.
