  1. sure is ugly in the rendering, if a person is unsure that means they want to like it.
  2. built many years ago. one of the oldest kits in my collection.
  3. built a couple years ago from the rd2 kit. gmc fuel tanks and wheels, single exhaust and bug screen added. decals from the parts box. bobbed front bumper and fender flares. a fun little build.
  4. the new kit doesn't have the front float tires according to Tim Ahlborn.
  5. first layer of planking about done. openings for windows in rear being worked on. top row of cannon openings laid out and stained. at this point the bottom floor has been planked and varnished. thanks all for your interest, more to come.
  6. hull is double planked. as can be seen here they must be tapered because hull is much wider in the middle. wooden blocks were added to keep the bulkheads square with the keel. the first layer of planking gives you the initial rough shape and may be sanded for a smooth surface for the second layer. glue and tiny nails were used at this point to hold the planks until dry. the nails were removed after the glue sets. bulkheads must be tapered on their edges so the planks have an even surface for a good glue joint without any gaps.
