Hi guys, I'm happy to share my first completed build for 2021, Revell's 1966 Chevrolet Fleetside pickup. I received this model for Christmas this past December and knew straight away I would like to try a weathered rat rod look. My idea for this build was to make it look like a barn find turned shop truck, hence the patinaed body but cleaned up wheels and lowered stance. This was only my second time weathering a model, using Vallejo Rust acrylic paints to build up the rust shades. The body was then sprayed with Vallejo chipping medium plus some salt to get more variation in the chips. The body was then sprayed with Tamiya X-2 Gloss White acrylic, and when dry I used water, a toothbrush and my finger nails to chip and scratch off the paint. The rest is built box stock, I just focused on weathering and dirtying up as many areas of the interior and engine bay as possible. For the rusty chrome it was a mix of sponging on the Vallejo rust shades, and Tamiya semi-gloss clear to give the chrome that faded look. This is a great model kit, everything seems to fit together perfectly, I will definitely pick up another one and give it a different look. Enjoy!

Hi All, here's another Ford I just finished up, my second of 2020. Started in January I wanted to go for a very mild custom look, and a unique exterior/interior combination. This Starliner body style is one of Ford's most beautiful design's, and already looks so custom in my eyes it didn't need any alterations, just a great color to make it pop. Living in Munich Germany just down the road from BMW's headquarters I see a fair amount of M3's wearing a crazy color called Austin Yellow, I figured its the perfect color for a 60's car. I didn't want to do the usual white tuck and roll interior, so I ended up finding inspiration in the Lamborghini Muira. Yellow Muira's came with a blue leather interior, or at least it was an option, so I thought that was a nice period reference for my blue Interior. Exterior paint is Zero Paint's BMW Austin Yellow w/ 2k Clear, and interior is Tamiya Blue X-4. I didn't like the steering wheel the kit came with so I swapped it for a '72 Chevy Truck wheel. Wheel and tire combo are actually from a 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS, I thought that fit the mild custom theme for the car. I don't show the engine here because I didn't use the engine from this kit, I just threw in a V8 I had around saving this kits engine for something else down the road. This was another fun build, but the biggest hurdle to get over was the sheer amount of chrome trim that needed to be covered in BMF. Not to mention the mistake of leaving some masking tape for 2 months on the rear chrome panel, which peeled all of the chrome off. I stripped the rear panel and re-did it using Alclad Chrome. Hi all, I recently finished up my first car model for 2020, the gorgeous Talladega. I started this model September 2019, and aimed to finally do something more or less box stock. This is a Monogram kit, everything was nicely molded and detailed, with the only flaw being the body was quite warped. I'm glad it doesn't show in the final photos, as it did cause some trouble in the final assembly. The only modifications to the model itself was the stance, I lowered the front suspension to give it a bit of wedge, as I've found with most muscle car models the front end's tend to sit a bit high. Talladega's are normally identified by their unique paint job's, one of 3 colors, red white or blue, and a blacked out hood. While searching for reference images I found a picture of a gold Torino and I thought that color just suited this body style perfectly. I painted the body using Zero Paints Gold & 2k clear, and used Tamiya's Semi-Gloss black on both the interior and exterior rear panel. The engine was also done using Zero Paints Ford/GM Engine blue, and all of the window trim done using BMF. This was a fun build, and one of my most box stock models ever built, I hope you enjoy the photos, cheers!

This opens up a lot of ideas & possibilities for airplane inspired 'tribute' custom car colors.
For instance, how about US Navy/USMC a/c colors, 1944 to 1950's overall gloss Dark Sea Blue, or the 1942 to 1944 tri-color Dark Sea Blue, Intermediate Blue & Insignia White.

Thanks! It's not a curbside, I just focused on the exterior for the first batch of photos. I'll post some soon, as for the Goodyear lettering, I painted them by hand by just dabbing on white paint a bit at a time.
1929 Ford Model A - Beach Racer

Hi All, here is my second finished model for 2021, AMT's Mod Rod '29 Ford Model A Roadster. For the past 3 summer's I've travelled north from Munich to Rømø Motor Festival to watch one of the greatest vintage speed gatherings. Watching these vintage cars race on the beach definitely inspired this build. Built box stock with minor additions such as the real metal mesh in the grill and spark plug wires. Where I wanted this racer to really stand out was in its colour palette. Typically these cars are always done in darker colors or wear older paint jobs. Lots of black on the frame and suspension parts, hand painted numbers etc. My colour inspiration came from running shoes of all places. The body was painted in Vallejo Emerald with Tamiya Semi-Gloss clear and the chassis/wheels and interior were done in Tamiya X3 Royal Blue to get away from the typical blacks. The Grill and engine block were done in Tamiya X7 Gloss Red to give it that racing pop of color. The exhaust was done in Tamiya XF Flat White to stand out amongst the colors and connect well with the white decals. This was a fun build, I highly recommend this kit since it comes with a ton of great parts, and of course 2 full cars, the second '29 is also underway. Thanks!
