Ok thanks for the info, very helpful! Chris -
I believe this is a 69 Biscayne; are there any similar wheels out there in 1/25? Thanks Chris

Just ran across this thread; truly remarkable work! I've got two of these planned; one OOB with the exception of shortening the boom to 70', and the second will be a dual-axle conversion with the later Snorkel boom. Very nice! Chris -

Nice, thanks for the info Lee. Always been pleased with Speedway's products. Chris -
Johnny Lightning Coca-Cola van, stripped & repainted with Tamiya pure white. Custom decals by Speedway. I added the oval-shape to the front grille to backdate it. The '97 also featured a different side mirror design than depicted on the Johnny Lightning model, so the mirrors themselves are from the AMT rescue van, attached to mounts shaped from music wire. The roof-mounted corner mirror is from the AMT ALF Eagle pumper kit. The "windows" in the side doors are black decal. The three roof-mounted floodlights are Shapeways items from the Downrange Productions store. Chris

Made a few minor tweaks to the Motor City Resin Kurbmaster kit to get it closer to the Chevy C20 shown in my references. Very nice kit, and good for my first resin kit given the simple shapes and low parts count. Decals by Speedway; roof-mounted AC unit and ladder racks scratchbuilt. Ladders are from an AMT American LaFrance fire truck. The lights are a modified Custom Squads item, and the sirens are from the Downrange Productions store on Shapeways. Chris

Looking for recommendations for brand/color to get close to Detroit green, either bottle or aerosol. Thanks Chris

Roof lights are a modified Custom Squads item, and decals by Speedway. Body paint is from automotivetouchup.com, and I used Alclad chrome on the grille and wheel covers. Chris

Finishing up the 91 Caprice, but in my hometown Tyler markings. It’s light blue like the 95 I finished a few months ago. I’ll try to get it finished this weekend and get some photos. Chris

Very well done, I especially like how neatly you applied the black to the center of the wheel covers...the Caprice lettering is perfectly sharp! Almost done with my build of this kit, just need to finish the overhead lights. Mine lags far behind yours though in workmanship! Chris

Terrific! Chris -
My Black Friday consisted of putting the finishing touches on this one, as best I recall I started it about 5 years ago. I based it off a single grainy photo I found online, plus my own memories of visiting the UPFD station with my grandfather when I was young. The AMT kit is certainly nice overall, though it has its challenges such as lack of positive locating aids, especially in/around the cab, plus heavy mold lines on many of the parts. The axes and hose couplers in the bed are 3D printed items from Shapeways; the couplers on the black suction hoses mounted on the side of the truck are kit pieces, though the hoses themselves are Evergreen tube that was a perfect match for the kit pieces, though much easier without seams to clean up. I used Model Car World lacquer for the ALF yellow, and the chrome is a mix of BMF, Alclad, Molotow, and Testors enamel. Hose load in the bed is sewing elastic dyed with wood stain, and the small-diameter hose on the reels is solder painted oxide red, to replace the kit's vinyl hose. The two rotating emergency lights are from resin/vac-form items from Custom Squads. Decals are from Speedway, and the two fire helmets are resin castings sent to me by a member on another forum. I replaced the mounts for the side mirrors with brass rod, as the kit pieces were way overscale. The red flashers & orange turn signals on the front are fog lights from the Welly Tahoes, and replace the arrow-shaped turn signals from the kit. Chris

This is the very nice Norscot Tahoe, factory-painted white. I added Speedway Decals, pillar spotlights & siren speakers from Shapeways, roof lights from Custom Squads, scratchbuilt/spares box antennas, and the wraparound parts of the grille guard were shaped from brass rod and added to the center kit part.
