Finally received my resin Moon discs from The Parts Box in Australia so calling this one done. Revell ‘37 Ford kit with engine, trans and front axle from the Speedwagon kit, diamond stitched bench seat from a ‘40 Ford pickup. Decals were supplied by My Custom Hot Wheels in Australia. I think it would make a great tow truck for my Futura Bonneville race car.

My last real build of the year, AMT’s classic ‘36 convertible, pretty much box stock except Parts Box resin wheels and tyres. Paint is Vauxhall Cool Grey Pearl.

I seem to have had a busy year at the bench with the help of several periods of lockdown here in the U.K. I’ve included a shot of the Moon panel van despite it lacking the all important Moon discs that are held up somewhere between The Parts Box in Australia and the U.K.

Thanks for the replies guys, I have actually recently built my Altered T kit. It’s ok but a bit of a mish mash of styles as Daddyfink pointed out.

Truly fantastic, all the right parts in all the right places, you never disappoint. -
This started life as the Revell Mothers Cherry Pie kit or rather the body did, this was combined with the modified chassis from the recent roadster kit, while the the fenders, scuttle and one door are from the sedan. I’ve no idea which kit donated flattie, but I can confirm that the sedan gave up its wheels and reversed whitewall tyres. Paint is Vauxhall mushroom metallic over black, door fit is pretty lousy as always so we will quickly move on to the photos.

This car was the inspiration Steve, not quite goggles but he has the hat ! Thanks to everyone for the kind comments.

Just a quick fun build of the ICM 1:24 speedster, ditched the fenders and moved everything rearward in the frame for that race car look, while the grille was formed over the stock piece.

I did intend to hinge the doors Alan but the sedan tuck and roll interior panels would have been ruined by cutting pockets for the huge kit hinges. I had tacked thin strips of Evergreen to hold the doors in place while working on it, and then just left them as the gaps were good.

I’ve had this one in the stash for quite some time and figured that our second lockdown was a good time to break it out. The multi piece body was not as bad as I was expecting and generally the fit was pretty good. The frame was modified to get the ride lower and it rolls on ‘53 Corvette wheels , tyres and caps. A Revell ‘48 custom donated most of its tuck and roll interior, rear fender skirts and grille. The hood and truck lid were both smoothed and much of the exterior trim and the vent windows were deleted. Paint is rattle can Ford Pepper Red Pearl followed by clear.

That’s a nice twist on the Phantom Vickie Rodney, unfortunately both the ‘32 hiboy roadster and the sedan kits are fairly scarce and relatively expensive here in the U.K. . Sacrificing a sedan body for the cowl is just not viable I’m afraid.

Many thanks for your reply Michael, I was aiming for the least cutting with my attempt and added small pieces between the cowl and the door top. I only have one in progress shot showing an early mock-up of my effort. Regarding the phaeton, I’d stick with the Tudor door shape, Mr Foose is not always right.

Nice job on the cowl swop Michael, I cut mine at the front edge of the door but I think I prefer your method. I will certainly be following your progress on both builds, the sedan conversion hadn’t crossed my mind. Here’s mine attempt.

There is currently a Tamiya Cheetah kit on EBay here in England with a eye watering £900.00 price tag, that’s approx $1160.00 to you guys ! Recently purchased this Sling Shot re pop from an E Bay auction as it was a kit that I always wanted as a kid but never received. Only took a couple of days from start to finish, box stock except decals and a circular disc on the rear of the block to represent a bell housing and fill the gap between the engine and firewall .

I was fortunate to meet Mrs Peel during a break in filming The Avengers, and yes she was in the catsuit, which left a far greater impression on a young schoolboy than my sitting in both the Elan and Bentley that day. I grew up in a small village close to Elstree studios where many ‘60s and ‘70s classics were produced and there was always something being shot in the surrounding area.

Keith, Revell did produce small scale Harley kits, I have this which dates from the early ‘60s boxed for the U.K. market and is I believe 1:25 scale. Sadly the box is rather distressed, only has one of the two models present and is missing the rear tyre, but all that can be overlooked by its cool factor ! If anyone has a replacement rear tyre I will happily pay shipping to the U.K.

Probably the same guy who fitted the rear shocks - there are none ! I deleted mine in the interests of authenticity.....

Alan, the Australian Chrysler range was distributed here by the Warwick Wright group starting in 1966 with the VC and continued through to 1976 with the VK, there were many VH and VJ Chargers , only 1 known E38 but no E49’s. I ran the owners club here for some time and had around 6 VE’s , the VF , 2 VH wagons, and a VJ sedan. Most have succumbed to rust while many were broken for spares when the parts supply dried up here in the ‘80s prior to the club and the internet.
