  1. Hello from Canada. Just did a quick check with Southern Motorsports Hobbies (smhracing.com), and under decals and resins is a listing for Slixx decals. Go to page 26 and they have a listing for the Mickey Thompson Pinto F/C #1585, and the Mickey Thompson Revellaser Pinto #1586. Also, the Mickey Thompson Mustang #1588. If you are building the Candy Apple Red Pinto, (1585),the shorter side panels fit the Johan kit with the smaller lettering. The other is for the Comp. resin body I believe. Hope this helps with your build. Slixx PN is 1591 on the red Pinto. Also, just did a quick peek on the Slixx site, still listed. Barry Ontario, Canada
  2. Is this the white '63 ROMY HAMMES Ford Galaxie you are building? If it is,a quick check with the PPG/Ditzler paint chart shows a Corinthian White as a stock Ford color for that year. I painted mine with a Wimbledon White Dupli-Color Touch Up spray, and used Fred Cady decals on the car. Hope this is helpful. Barry Kennedy Ontario, Canada
  3. Two really nice bow ties from back then. Nice work. The "Mystery Motor" would evolve into the 396 and 427 Big Block engines that would wind up in later GM cars we all had to have . Well done! Barry Kennedy Ontario, Canada
  4. I think if Polar Lights would have put clear headlight lenses,a better grill, and a better engine in the kit, it would have greatly improved things. Also, this would be a great kit for Moebius to produce as they already have the tooling in place from the Plymouth kits. Engine options, chassis pan, suspension parts, etc. Just tool up a body, glass, hood, grills and bumpers, plus a new interior. Done. I read a few years ago, (Scale Auto, I think) the tooling for the AMT '65 Dodge no longer exists, or can't be found. Just the body and the glass is all that's left. This is one kit that needs to be produced. Barry Kennedy Ontario, Canada
  5. Hello from Canada. Just having a quick look at the Daytona conversion kit, and it looks really nice. This is a kit I just put on my 'want to build' list. If you use the 1/16 Baker Charger, you would have the K&K decals for the car with all the numbers, sponsors, etc. Mikesdecals.com carries a 1/16 conversion kit to backdate the Dodge body to a '71, and earlier, with steel wheels, new grill, and, the 'C Post' filler. Someone mentioned avoiding Perrys resin. He's right. I'll never buy from him again. Barry Kennedy Ontario Canada
  6. Finding the 6 bolt rims, period correct tires, and the PPP roll cage is real easy. Just got mikesdecals.com. Everything you need is there listed under parts & resin.Good guy to deal with, and not that expensive. He also has some decals for the '62. Good luck with the build. Barry Kennedy Ont. Canada.
  7. Hello for Canada. I have several 1/16 Revell Funny Cars, Dragsters and 1/12 Tamiya Formula One kits I built in the '70's on the shelf still with Kleenex stuffed in the tires. The tires have not cracked, or rotted, and are still in good shape. Also some of the old 1/8 motorcycle choppers Revell used to make. Same deal, Kleenex stuffed in the tires. It works. Excessive heat and humidity (like storing a kit in a garage attic), will destroy the tires in no time. So will direct exposure to sunlight. I try to keep any kits I buy on a shelf in a dark closet until I'm ready to start building. I also put the tires in a lunch baggy to prevent tire burn on the plastic, or decals. Model makers now, to their credit, have been bagging everything separate which is good. The worst example of bad tires I have seen, are the ones in the re-issues of the MPC 1/16 Petty/Baker Dodge Chargers. I opened the baggy, and was greeted with a very strong oily chemical smell from the release agent used. I had to scrub the tires with hand cleaner and dish soap to get them clean. Same procedure, stuff the tires with Kleenex. I have had tires go south, and it's frustrating. Anyway, I hope this helps out, and good luck finding replacements for your kits. Barry Kennedy Ont. 8. Hello from Canada. I used the 'new' stock Amt '62 Chev Bel Air when it was first released. Everything you need is in the kit. I would also highly recommend a book called " Building Scale Model Stock Cars" by Bill Coulter. He covers just about every era of NASCAR cars in the book including the '62 and '63 Chevs. You will need Plastic Performance Product 6 bolt rims, tires, and a roll cage from Mikes Decals.com. And that's it. Add some extra shocks front and back, along with straight exhaust, minor body mods, and your choice of decals. The AMT kit is almost race ready with a few modifications. Hope this was helpful information, and good luck with the build. Barry Kennedy Ont. Canada
  9. Hello from Canada. I did a quick Google search for some color options you where asking about, and I found a nice Champagne Gold/tan color in a Black restored Catalina. Sharp looking car. Quite a few had the metallic reds, the Bonnevilles had a lot of metallic blues,Autocolorlibrary.com is a good source for factory color paint chips. On the plus side, this is one of AMT's better kits to work with. It's a good solid kit for a NASCAR stocker, or an early Super Stock drag car.Good luck with the build, hope this little info is helpful. Barry Kennedy Ont. Canada
  10. Hello from Canada. My name is is Barry, and I have built several of the PL Mustang kits. When PL designed the kit, they made a one size fits all chassis. Which works for the Charger and 'Cuda, but too long for the Mustang. The front wheels will rub against the body at the front wheel opening. I had to shorten the chassis side rails by 3/32 of an inch by cutting the rails just behind the spot where the radius rods are glued to the frame rails. I added a support flat bracket made from .020 scrap about 1/14 inch long, glued from in behind the rail, for strength, and that's it. Done. If all works out ok,and make sure the frame is square, the front wheels should line up dead center in the front wheel opening of the body. I hope this helpful, and good luck with the build. 11. Hello from Canada. Just reading some of the kits on the wish list, so, here are a few of mine; 1964 Dodge Coronet 2dr. (The Johan kit is getting harder to find, and pricey).Moebius could do this easy as a modified re-issue. 1965 Dodge Coronet and Sedan (stock and AWB's). Moebius could do these as a modified re-issue. A decent 1970 Plymouth Super Bird in 1/25. The Monogram kit is a bit long in the tooth, the Johan kit is getting pricey as well. 1951 2 dr. Merc (chopped). Revell can do this one as a modified. 1950's Dodge Desotos with some custom touches maybe? 1950's Packards, and Studebakers. Some of these where very stylish, and made great customs back then. A Holy Grail from MPC;(if the tooling still exists), the 1/10 scale Don Garlits Hemi Engine, and figure of Garlits. Beautiful detail on these The Uncertain 'T'. Monogram put this out years ago, and didn't keep the tooling. A new tool would have to be made. 1953-54 Chev Bel Air. A modern tool of the kit would be nice in 1/25. The Revell kit is long over due for a complete facelift. MPC Dodge and Plymouth re-issue 1969-70's NASCAR kits.(if the tooling still exists). A re-issue of some of Revell's 1/16 scale FED's, and Funny Cars. These where great kits to build, and very detailed. 1963-64 Ford Galaxie's, and Marauder's These could be a modified re-issue using the excellent frame, suspension, chassis pan , etc. from the 1960 Ford Skyliner. That's all I can think of at the moment, I welcome comments, maybe I forgot a few (old age thing). Bye for now. Barry Kennedy Ontario Canada.
  12. Hello from Canada. New member here, and I'm reading the posts on the new Moebius kit coming out. First, a huge thank you goes out to the manufacture and Model King for bringing out kits the model builders have been asking for for years. This one is on my must build list also. Now, Sox and Martin drove a stock wheelbase sedan, along with The Melrose Missile. Cady made decals for The Melrose Missile, and Slixx decals could be used for the Sox and Martin car. I would invite everyone to check out a site called georgeklass.net. If you are interested in vintage drag racing, this site is loaded with some great shots, and lots of building ideas here. Some more 1965 Plymouth Sedans: Miller and Guenther, Mr. 5 and 50,, Texas Rattler,Stinger. Hope this bit of information is helpful, and a great forum. Thanks for listening. Barry Kennedy Ont. Canada
