  1. This was a radical build for the times, It features the chassis from the Dobberton Pontiac with 4 Firestone tires spliced together to complete the extreme tubbed look!
  2. I've been in a slump lately but I'm ready to declare my entry and get in on the fun that I've been sideline watching all you awesome builders have. 😁 I'll be building my favorite kit of all time the Classic Revell 69 Camaro. I've made my selection based on two reasons... #1. I can build this kit rather quickly as I'm late to the party. And because it's my favorite kit, I've built it many times over and over agian I can practically build the car with my eyes closed. #2. I really needed an excuse to reboot my tips and tricks tread to share some more of my build secrets on improving this particular kit. 😄 So I'm officially on the board with my 2023 CBR RWYB... the chase is on!!
  3. Hard to believe it's been 5 years...😬😁😆 I stalled on the orange Z28 and over the past few years I've tossed the painted body on and off the bench... it kinda need repainted now. At the moment it's MIA also. I'm trying to reboot the thread because I'm declaring my entry for the CBR anything goes community build soon. More than likely I'll use this kit because there's not much time left in the challenge and I can build this car quickly and practically with my eyes closed. I'm undecided which one I'll build maybe the 4x4 or perhaps a prostreet kit to add to my tips and tricks section on how to correctly tub out this kit. I learned from an article in the April 92 installment of Plastic Fanatic magazine. 😆 who's ready to see the progress continue? I need to get back in the saddle again, been in a slump latley.
  4. That's great, maybe if you have time you can lay it out and show us what its all about. I remember it being at K-mart or Roses back in the day for like $12.95, which was about 4 times the price of the regular kits. and thanks for being in touch with Atlantis, that gets the ball rolling and gets it on their radar for sure...
  5. Actually, I thought about trying to email and let them know too. As I gain more information I suspect this was a typo, it seems instead of 1974 they put 1994. Thanks for the info, I think I'll just let it be... 😆
  6. I would buy it for sure then! 😆 thanks for the info on scalemates, I never knew that...
  7. It's more of a question really... or 2 actually. The topic came up at our local club meet today and a few of the old cats in the club say it was never reissued after 71 but the scalemates history website says reissued in 1994. Sooooo.... Was it in fact reissued in 94? (Does anyone remember buying the kit retail in 94?), will it ever be re-issued agian? Another question would be since it's an old Monogram tool, did Atlantis get the tool or is it lost forever? This thread can easily become a review if anyone has an original or can share the oddities of the kit. If Atlantis aquired the tools it would be cool to see it get reissued. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/monogram-7543-muscle-bug--1151418
  8. I don't mean to be telling tales out of school here but Spencer1984.com on YouTube has the entire 12 part series of the build, I recommend it. Worth the time to watch, very informative, and creative... not only is Bill a talented modeler but also a great content provider on his channel. Check it out... https://youtu.be/y8NK22O-wDM
  9. Thanks guys, this was a difficult build for me... I wouldn't do the swap in this truck again. It would've been easier to swap in a big block than doing this AWD chassis and turbocharged V6 swap. My goal for this build was for the AWD stuff from the Revell kit to not go to waste because I wanted the 92/93 Revell S10 to be 2WD and Small Block Chevy. So mission accomplished I guess... 😆 I would like to try swapping the parts into say an early 60's Chevy.
  10. I built this S10 as an all wheel drive track truck. I borrowed the running gear from the Revell Street Sleeper and the wheels and slicks from a Revell SnapTite (2016 Nascar).. added Four "Burnt Rubber" decals to the body from the Revell 69 "Super Nova" and Rounded off the build with as much "Stock" treatment I could to give it a Tired S10 Daily Driver appearance. Just a cheap Chevy with a Engine/ Chassis Swap to make it fast... Sleeper Style! thanks for looking and Happy Days...
  11. Yeah, most of the credit should go to Round II for taking those old molds and bringing them back to current. It's nice to see a company invest back into the brand with new or lost for so long that they're new agian molds. It's one thing to repop an existing mold but building brand new molds based on original specs is on another level. Never before have we seen this and it's exciting.
  12. This one, I assume is the same (pretty much) as the 70 Sierra Grande. But would include the 70 grill and the camper top...
  13. I seen somewhere that this kit may be reissued some time in the future. Perhaps one of Round II retooling projects maybe? 🤔 I'd be in for that one for sure and l like the trailer idea too.
  14. Thanks for the comments, I would suggest the 70's Monogram Chevys or maybe the MPC GMC. The older truck's beds and the Foose Ford is too short, as you can see I had to turn the front wheels to fit the bikes on there. Not ideal but I built it too fast to think about the bikes not fitting. Kind of a regret but there's always something you wish you would've done. Those bikes aren't the best to build either but they do look cool if you spend the extra time on then. Have fun and I hope the build goes smoothly.
  15. Thanks Bill, that means alot coming from you... I'm really excited to see the family truckster project of yours! I'll keep updating myself on the build, I was actually thinking about getting one of those myself. These Hot Wheels inspired type of builds really remind me of the cool themes you come up with... definitely channeling your energy when I start thinking about what to build. I've been following along with your builds for nearly 15 years in amazement so Thank you for the inspiration.👍
  16. Thanks to everyone for the nice comments, I do appreciate it! This is a simple kit with minimal problems. My only complaint is to me for not reading the directions. I skipped a few steps ahead out of order on the build and it kinda cost me in hindsight. All in All I consider it a win because I'll know better the next time.😁
  17. This Build is a Tribute to the Hi-Tail Hauler SE Real Riders "Good'ol Pic Um Up" released by Hot Wheels in 1985. I started with the Foose Ford, I De-Foosed it as much as possible, shaved the embossed Foose Logo off the Tailgate, added F O R D letter decals. The wheels and tires are from the Monogram Chevy Luv. I used 4 back wheels and tires stripped the chrome and added center caps from the Monogram 53 Chevy Belair... Signature Real Riders Good year decals came from an AMT Nascar. The Color is Candy Scarlett under 3 coats of Wet look clear. I added the "Good Ol Pick Um Up" Hood decal to complete the tribute. The dirt bikes are from the AMT Parts Pack. Basically this is a Box Stock build with a few minor changes (wheels and tires and decals.) Thanks for looking and have a Good'Ol Day!👍😁
  18. I was deeply honored that my barnfind made it into the 2 page spread. I've had my builds published in contest annuals before but this is Awesome. I'm truly humbled.
  19. As far as I know Testors still owns those molds. I can't find any info about it. There is evidence of a merger with Airfix so maybe those molds could be reused? Here's the kit in yellow from the forum. It's pretty simple for sure.
  20. My favorite issue was this one. Mainly for the decals. It was the first model I built for a contest, which resulted in a 3rd place trophy for the beginners class I was 14. Still have the trophy the model is long gone. Would be nice to see those decals return in the new kit. I would've like to have seen a new cowl hood tooled up also. I'm sure the 3D world will have alot of options, so no worries. I'm happy to see it no matter what. Also thought to mention the Testors Boyd's Hauler... whoud that kit be worth a re-pop? Or any of those Quick builder kits.
  21. Well said, yeah, very sad story, and I don't think they are the wealthiest people either, so funding a project like that probably took the back burner for other reasons as well.
  22. I've often wondered what became of the 1970 Boss Mustang restoration that the two brothers on YouTube were building. Sadly, earlier this year Brandon, made an update video informing the viewers of his younger brother Corey's unexpected death at the young age of just 29 on December the 16th. He no longer has the will to continue the build therefore has sold the car and shares the news through a heartfelt update. I was in tears, I really feel for the guy.
