    Days Of Thunder

Looks good! The color looks darn close as well. I'm with Jamie on this one too. The black Sharpie around the window frames is one of the easiest tricks to pull off. It also helps hide the glue around the window. Oh, and don't forget the white Goodyear lettering on the tires!
  2. That looks great Matt! You have a knack for building those older cars! I wish I knew more about them....
  3. Everything looks good so far. One of my favorite movie cars!! Just a heads up, but the right side tires are on backwards...
  4. WOW Dude!! That is spectacular! The engine detail looks flawless as usual. The whole car is flawless! You've been busy...I haven't touched anything for about 2 weeks now.
  5. I actually didn't open the holes in the rims...it's a flat black wash inside the holes that gives it that illusion. I lowered the car by cutting off the wheel mounting posts from the front & rear suspensions & gluing the wheels directly to the spindles. I think this much more effective & a heck of a lot easier than trying to bring the body down lower.
  6. I just finished this curbside build for one of my very good friends. He was a huge fan of this body style T-Bird & Bill Elliott. His dad also had a 1987 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. I used a Monogram kit with Mike's decals...I forget the company. The contingencies are from the spare decals box. There are a few missing, but for the most part it's pretty accurate. The paint is all Tamiya, including the clear. it's a little too cold to be shooting 2 part around here. Enjoy!
  7. Finished this up except for the roof cam & antenna. Tamiya racing green with Transtar clear. I didn't clear over the decals..... The pics I have of the 1:1 car show the graphics with a matte finish. I had a few fit issues with the nose decals, but I think it came out decently. The decals are from Power Slide.....
  8. Looks awesome Jeremy!!! I got a set of these decals too.... I can't wait to tear into 'em!
  9. I am still completing my DoT collection. I've done the Mello Yello & Hardee's cars in "raced" trim from the movie. I also did the Exxon car, but I am unhappy with my paint work so I'll be redoing that one in the near future. The next one will be the City Chevrolet car. I plan on painting the body neon yellow and then air brushing neon green over top for the fade. You can see those cars here: Visit My Website
  10. I was able to sneak this in after my daughter was born on Tuesday...... I actually decaled it while we were in the hospital before my wife went into labor of course!. The paint is Rustoleum neon pink and Tamiya white topped with automotive urethane. The decals were from PowerSlide.... the only issue was the bleed through of the door #'s..... I had an extra set, so I just doubled them up! I lowered the car and made some new exhaust pipes from aluminum tube. Enjoy!!

    67 Chevelle SS

WOW!!!! That looks like the real deal! Your paintwork is FLAWLESS!!!!! Actually, the whole model is FLAWLESS!
  12. I built this car about a year ago and it now has found a place on DaveT's shelf.... The body was first painted with Tamiya gunmetal. I then carefully masked off the gunmetal for the black stripes. I put down a layer of urethane clear so the decals wouldn't sliver. The decals were from John Beatty and of great quality for ALPs. Once decaled, I applied the final layers of urethane. The exhaust was moved to the right side and I lowered the suspension a bit.
  13. This Dale Jr's Cup debut ride. It's built pretty much box stock except for the left side exit exhaust and I lowered the suspension. The paint is Tamiya bright red & black with Transtar automotive urethane clear. The decals are from JWTBM.
  14. Here's another one for you NASCAR guys. This is Juan Pablo Montoya's Nextel Cup debut Charger. The car was raced last year @ Miami Homestead speedway. My build features a resin Charger body from Mike's Decals, right side exit exhaust, ProTech hood pins, and an aluminum fuel filler. The paint is Tamiya black with HoK acrylic clear.
  15. Here you go Jamie...... Since Dale Jr. probably won't win another race at DEI, I decided to build his second place car from Pocono a few weeks ago. I chose this car because of the fact that it ran so horribly for the first half of the race. During a caution that Jr. himself brought out, the team changed the left front shock and that completely changed this car. Restarting 26th, Jr. powered through the field into the lead. Unfortunately, Kurt Busch ended up winning the race..... with Jr. finishing second. I used a Revell kit with some basic mods...... I cut off the kit rocker skirts and made some new ones out of sheet styrene, moved the exhaust to the right side, & lowered the suspension. The paint is Tamiya bright red over a white base with Transtar automotive clear all polished out. The decals are from Power Slide & JWTBM.
  16. This my first post here so go easy on me!! Here's a little something I put together watching "Dale" the other night. This is what I think Dale Sr's car would look like today if he hadn't died. I did something similar to this a few years ago, but I wasn't happy with my paintwork..... so I cut the body off the chassis and replaced it with what you see here. The paint is Tamiya black & silver topped with Transtar urethane. The decals are mainly from BSR with a few odds and ends to make the car look more current. The exhaust dump on the right side was made from a spare hood hinge I had lying around.
